Kwarleyz Residence Accra

Kwarleyz Residence Accra

Accra|1.83km from downtown
Our worst experience started from the reception when we were met by a dark skinned receptionist (name unknown). Her facial expressions and attitudes were condescending towards my wife & I. Then she asked for my credit card, which was in my checked in luggage; I informed her that I do not feel comfortable opening my luggage infront of everyone at the lobby. She did not care or show any form of understanding. It was the porter (Isaac) who was fast thinking and considerate; he took me to a small storage room to remove my card wallet. After we have made payment, she did not communicate effectively about the caution charge of 200USD. So my wife & I though she meant GHC, she just stared at us and belittling us with her eyes. This was how we were meant at the reception before checking in our loft. The Following morning, I asked her if she got the 200USD since she had Isaac follow us to our room and get it. She started accusing us of incomplete payments, knowing fully well that I was charged by my bank. I stood my ground that I do not owe anything & we were in a hurry to leave for our tour. We had 2 minutes of back & forth; my wife & I were so pissed of these accusations. When we got back in the evening, she realized her mistakes and apologized but the damage was already done. We couldn’t wait to check out asap on our third day. When we were checking out, she didn’t bother to remind us about the caution fee she was so eager to collect; until my wife reminded her. She looked displeased at the reminder; I guess she wanted it herself. Customer Service is Zero here; any young individuals or couples please stay away from here. I would never recommend this organization to anyone. Thanks to Aqua Safari that saved us from the misery of Kwarleyz.

Accra Luxury Apartments

Accra|7.47km from downtown
I stayed here for my first week from the 25th March 2022. I was very happy with the service and the area. Somethings from my room were not complete, for example having my own sofa which was of inconvenience when my guests arrived but my host made sure I was comfortable and promised to look after me the next time. I was happy to come back after my trip from Kumasi. However everything went down hill. Room was disorganised, broken curtains, bed made was incomplete, low/no wifi. Ceiling mould and damp. Made a compliant in which the maintenance team attended and informed me they were trying to gain access in the afternoon but no one was in. Bear in mind I had not received any phone calls or messages about this. Furthermore, I explained the room is no fit condition to be receiving guests and should be fixed first, this was not a matter of completing it in the afternoon that I checked in! Rubbish! One of the workers agreed and also made it known to the maintenance team she had been complaining about this room for a while. They moved me to a temp room for the night. With weak/very limited wifi, some stained walls, broken shower, sticky toilet bin lid and the toilet making loud and long flushing noises. I moved in total four times. They also gave me a room with stained bed sheets and scaffolding in which workers would be walking across my balcony. With the help of my old host and a nice lady, I got a lovely apartment. The host, required payment but did not want to do an online bank transfer, did not have a card machine. So I paid via World Remit money in which money was taken out of my account but her transactions was not cleared. She wanted me to pay again, in which I told her I will not be paying twice, she will have to wait until the refund is cleared. I had to request for a refund (took 3 working days), was also being chased for full payment for the moulded room. House keeping forgot to lock my room. At this point I was fed up. I asked for some negotiation in having a late check out as my flight departed late at night and with everything I had dealt with before, this was by passed and not even considered. I was then charged the highest exchange rate which meant i was paying more (they say different agents use different exchange rates). This meant I was given the host/agent nearly £94 extra which is around about/over 800 GHC. For all the lack of customer service, sympathy and them always chasing me for payments like I was a criminal. I will not be coming back again! I honestly wish I left my experience at week one, rather than returning back to end my stay in Ghana. If you want a modern place , great location/pool side views, lots of tourists etc, stay there. I expected way more for up-keeping and maintenance. Highly disappointed with round two stay at Embassy Gardens.
Airside Hotel

Airside Hotel

Accra|0.69km from downtown
I don't at all understand the negative, mixed reviews - I had an excellent stay at Airside Hotel! Here is a detailed review of my one night stay. The location of the hotel is nearby the International airport (5-10 minute drive), which was perfect for me as I was arriving in the evening and departing again in the morning. The hotel offers a free airport shuttle, in both directions, making transit a breeze! The driver was on time and exactly in the stated pick-up point! I was grateful of this service! The airport drop-off the next morning was equally smooth. Staff here are so incredibly welcoming, kind and accommodating. They are extremely responsive to emails, and wanted to make my stay as comfortable as possible. Cynthia and Joyce were a true pleasure to correspond with! I really enjoyed interacting with the staff here. True Ghanian hospitality! The room was large and extremely spacious. Great layout! The room came furnished with a mini fridge, a writing desk, a desk lamp, two bed side tables, a large chair, an electric kettle with tea and coffee making facilities. Other amenities included a bottle of water! Wifi is password protected and the signal is extremely strong in the room and throughout the hotel. Air conditioning in the room was excellent - very good airflow! Also, there were many electrical sockets throughout the room, in good working order, to charge your devices. They were International sockets, so they had inputs for UK, North America and also Europe. The bed was very very comfortable. The bedding was clearly new - a big down comforter with 4 pillows of perfect firmness! I had a wonderful sleep! The bathroom also has been renovated. The toilet was new, and the bathroom came with a large shower/bathtub. I was pleasantly surprised at the amenities offered at this hotel, including a large bath robe, a bath towel, Kleenex, a hand towel, a bar of soap, hand soap, shampoo, body lotion, and a shower cap. I didn't expect this level of amenities for this price point, but I was very happy and appreciative! They really served to make my stay more comfortable! The shower was hot and the water pressure was good enough to do the trick! My only sore spot would be the bathroom sink, mostly just the layout. The tap sits directly under a glass shelf, and so it's really difficult to raise the tap to get water. Lighting in the room was good throughout, and there were many windows in the room, with big screens. There was no mosquito net, but I didn't notice any mosquitos in the room anyway, so this wasn't a problem for me! Breakfast starts early at 6:30am, which is great for transiting passengers! It was nice to refuel before another flight! On offer was coffee, tea, juices, water, yogurt, fresh cut fruits and vegetables, whole apples and bananas, breads with an assortment of jams and spreads, cold cereals with milk, hot dishes including beans, sausages, sautéed vegetables, what looked like bacon to me, little quiches, fried eggs, and boiled egg
Ibis Styles Accra Airport

Ibis Styles Accra Airport

Accra|1.03km from downtown
As I arrived at the hotel, it was overbooked and I was given a temporary room that had 2 beds in the room and you could hardly move. I had to then unpack, repack and then unpack again when I was relocated the following night. Although this was a minor issue, a big problem was that the WiFi in the room was very unstable. This became an even bigger issue in the new room as the WiFi would not connect at all (there was also very poor cellphone reception in the room). As this was a business trip, this was a problem as I could not make or receive calls/messages. 2 nights after checking in I received a call from my bank (when using the WiFi at a coffee shop up the road) suggesting the hotel had double charged me. After speaking to the fraud division it was clear that this did in fact happen as Ibis Hotel was reflecting as the merchant. The hotel outright denied this (even though it was conformed by the fraud division at my bank) and to this day, 5 days after checking out, my funds have still not been returned and I have had to file a dispute with my bank. This has resulted in my credit cards being blocked and my online banking being suspended. Luckily I have another bank card with me otherwise I would have been stuck in Accra with no access to funds as a result of the hotel's incompetence. The real cherry on the top was when I had an important business Zoom call but could not connect to the WiFi in my room to take it. I went to the reception desk and asked them if I could use a vacant meeting room that was not being used (as a result of not having WiFi access in my room which I am paying for). I was denied this request and was told there would be a GHS 100 charge. I reluctantly had to agree as the call was urgent and I had no other option. Upon checking out I received an invoice for USD 100 and was told that the meeting room I had used was in fact USD 100 (not GHS 100). This was almost the cost of my hotel room for the night. As I was on my way to the airport I had no choice to pay with my card that was not blocked due to the hotels incompetence (for services that I was paying for but did not receive). I essentially had to pay for a meting room for 30 minutes for the same price as my hotel room due to the hotel not providing the services (WiFi) as advertised and for which I was paying. Very disappointing and even more so disappointing that they could not do me a favor and let me use an empty meeting room with no charge after making me move rooms and double charging me for my stay which resulted in my credit cards and internet banking being blocked. Overall the experience was a nightmare from start to finish. Needless to say I will be avoiding all Ibis establishments at all costs. Absolute waste of money and a total inconvenience with no apology and no offer to try and resolve my problems amenably. There are plenty nice hotels in the area or AirBnb's in the Embassy Gardens with great reviews. I would choose anywhere over Ibis Styles Hotel. I hope this r

Good points - Most of the staff are so friendly and will go out of their way to help you and make sure you are ok. Juliet at reception is exceptional. - Beautiful grounds and setting, well maintained lawns with palm trees and flowers. Right by the sea. - Amazing pool with swim up bar and plenty of sunbeds - Nice restaurant with good breakfast choice and also the Ghanaian village restaurant overlooking the beach is lovely, especially the Sunday buffet. - Rooms are nice - we changed a couple of times but ended up in a Club room in 15 block. Everything was good, except a couple of maintenance issues which were quickly resolved. - hotel is spotlessly clean Not so good points - the hotel feels like it has a fading glamour, this was my 3rd stay here and it feels like no money is invested in small things which would make a difference (for example new sunbeds and furniture around the pool, ensuring all balcony doors open). It feels as though there could be improvements made by the management in maintenance and upkeep to bring it back to a more luxury resort. - there were few guests but far too many staff - one day at breakfast there was 2 tables eating (4 people in total including us) and 9 staff - waiters and waitresses standing around with nothing to do. It made it feel quite intimidating and seemed totally inefficient. Given it is a help yourself buffet I don’t know why 9 waitresses would ever be required!

Lou Ralph Hotel

Fabulous stay at this hotel Staff were great and friendly. Pool very clean and usable, the only downside is the steps into pool, especially if you have mobility issues. Breakfast is only included for 1 person, even if 2 staying in room ... this seems to be a Ghanaian thing. Security on entrance. Food during day from pool/bar menu, there is great selection and reasonably priced, hot and generous portions. Pool is accessed by day users and locals

The hotel was just okay. Bathrooms were not very clean. The beds were hard like bricks. Air-conditioning kept stopping and the staff had to keep coming to reset the breakers. Water leaked out of the showers. The view from two of the bedrooms were of the slum community.

To be honest, the price and quality are quite matched. In fact, the interior is quite average, and the room is particularly small; if the family used to be unsuitable, business trips are OK!
