Alboran Algeciras

The hotel was fine overall and the staff excellent. The breakfast selection was poor. No cooked eggs and a poor range of hot food. Sausages were very processed and awful. Fruit was very limited

This is a lovely hotel…. Sp pretty with columns and alcoves. For the first night I booked dinner B&B….. the food was delicious! Dinner was 5 courses but included the best Broccoli au Gratin I ever tasted and included a glass of red wine. I expected the wine to be tough but it was actually very good! I did not try the open air swimming pool but in this heat it was an option … nearby beach was crowded and with fascinating container port nearby I found it hard to believe the water was bathing quality! 8€ taxi ride from bus station. Staff were unfailingly helpful and courteous. Next time I will ask for a room with a mountain-view. I stayed a second night … trip charged me a higher price? I also took their Day Excursion to Morocco…€72 but add on €40 for tips! It included return ferry, transport, guide and Moroccan lunch ( delicious) … driver, his friend, guide and me on a 32 seater bus! Obligatory “buy a carpet” talk at “craft school” ( Omg I bought a carpet!) … hold out for the trinkets shop on the way out!!! 4 hours to get back through customs … queues…. But it was fascinating v and an unexpected glimpse into border mentality. 4 layers … Moroccan military check, Moroccan police check, Spanish police check and Covid certificate check and final layer …. Spanish guards emptying and checking every car and finding something to throw away from everyone!!!! Two days feels like a wonderful week!

A very warm welcome on arrival. Room was clean and comfortable (once I’d turned the heating down from 28C!). Breakfast was ok although on the first morning the hot food was barely luke warm. I was early the second morning and it was hot then. Bar was excellent and staff very friendly. Pizzas are good too. Location is a way out of town but I don’t mind walking and there seemed to be plenty of buses with stops outside the hotel. I’d definitely stay again if I return to Algeciras.

The staff were so lovely, especially one particular lady on reception. The food is lively and so varied from A lacarte to snacks in the cafeteria. The room was clean and rended to daily. The only thing that could be slightly better is the buffet breakfast. There's plenty to choose from, and it's all lovely. However, the pastries were not covered. When I took one, a load of fruit flues flew up. Everything was so simple and the staffs English was sooooo much better than my Spanish.

Wonderful stay Peaceful sleep Rooms are overlooking the road or the pool. Good pool, cafe, gymnasium. Food was good in all meals . 20 mins walk to the beach if you are interested. Rooms are clean and nice Staff is amazing. Had a great interaction with Maria at the front desk.

Dear travellers (in particular those with canine companions), In my case a large wolf like being that I describe as my second daughter. I have worked at an executive level in customer service in both corporate and hospitality environments my entire life. It is my passion!! And as such, I expect to receive a certain standard in return when I travel to other countries. I rarely have time to leave reviews except under exceptional circumstances and one of those exceptional experiences happened at this Hotel in the last week. Furthermore, I feel that not doing so, would not only do an injustice to the Hotel Alboran and its wonderful staff, but also to anyone thinking of visiting or passing through Algeciras, in case they miss out on the opportunity for a Top Class stay at a Top Class hotel where I found what can only be described as the 'perfect' customer experience. I was finding it difficult to find pet-friendly accommodation as I made my way from Spain to Portugal on the south coast I finally came across this hotel and it's amazing staff who treated me and my best friend to a standard of genuine care I've rarely experienced anywhere else in Europe and probably the world. All the staff were amazing, without exception, however I need to explicitly thank May and Cristobel who went out of their way to make us feel very welcome and no amount of assistance was an inconvenience BUT THEN THERE WAS MARIA, the icing on the cake. Saint Maria , ☺️, combined professionalism, care and genuine empathy, love for animals and work ethic far above and beyond the call of duty, in the perfect blend of hospitality, even spending some of her personal time helping me with a very challenging matter on my upcoming travels. Her attention and dedication was relentless and seemed almost effortless. 5 stars definitely for the Alboran hotel for my stay, 10 stars if I could for the team…. but Maria, take the Milky Way number of stars and add 1. 😀 Owners/ Management of Hotel Alboran, in Maria, you have an absolute gem. She is a keeper!!! What an ambassador for your brand!! To all travelers planning a trip in the region, if you want to relax and be genuinely taken care of by a staff that work together in a wonderful team, in a luxurious and spotlessly clean environment, plan your next stay in this hotel ! Rates are also very competitive for the area. 🤗🤗……. As the Terminator once said... I'll be back!!😎 To all my fellow Irish for a service, better than the homeland, guaranteed, You gotta stop over. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel had a handicap accessible room that suited our needs - walk in shower with shower chair, grab bars in the shower and and at the toilet. The water temperature in the shower was lukewarm at best. There was a station in the parking lot to charge electric vehicles. We had dinner in the restaurant of a very nice baked sea bass.

Cannot recommend this hotel enough. Hotel staff spoke very good English on arrival and our room was large with a balcony. Very clean in the hotel as well as the pool area. Even though their was a private party in the evening the noisy could not be heard from our room. We only ate some small tapas at the restaurant but it was good. They sold ice cream and well priced drinks. Local restaurants near by are around a 10 min walk and the free parking was plentiful. We used this hotel to enter Morocco and Gibraltar so suited us well on the outskirts of the town.

Good facilities and service. Shower was not very warm, otherwise no complaints.
