The breakfast was delicious, the bed was very comfortable and the view of the ocean and mountains were spectacular. The woman who runs this hotel was as cold as the Norwegian weather. She refused to shake my mother's hand upon meeting. The owner hired a taxi for 11am on the day we checked out and stated at 10:48, that it was 11am and walked into our hotel room and demanded the room key. That was difficult to process because she had mentioned at morning breakfast that we need to leave the room key in the door lock to our room. She refused to leave our room until we handed her the key. The owner lied to us about the taxi driver having another call and being inpatient. She said we were late, when in fact we got in the taxi at exactly 11AM and the driver didn't have another call. This was my second time traveling in Norway. My first experience was up and down the coast through the Hurtigruten M/S Lofoten. I made so many friends from Norway that I keep in touch with today. I understand me as an American have different views culturally, intellectually, and politically, not to discount similarities of friendly relations based on democratic values, mutual respect and the absolute love of mountains and ocean ~ nature. Treat people how you want to be treated.

Alta is a town that is difficult to reach in winter, so it is good to make reservations as late as possible to get a refund without penalty. Accommodation owners and tour operators will take your money and not refund you even if you prove that you didn't arrive in Alta due to weather (cancelled planes or planes that were unable to land). I am writing this review in order to express utter disappointment with ***********. They are a company with a reputation, so I would have expected some degree of customer service. This was really not the case. An awful experience which will lead me to never again use their services. Disappointing, would not recommend. We had a booking for a few nights for an accommodation in Alta. However, we were travelling from Tromso and the airline cancelled the first flight. Then the second flight for which we were scheduled departed from Tromso, but couldn’t land in Alta due to weather conditions. Due to this, we couldn’t make it to Alta in time. We tried to cancel with the location directly, but we were told that we didn’t meet the cancellation deadline. Then we reached out to *********** as they are an intermediary and would expect them to help facilitate in such situation. However, after emailing and speaking with several people, we were told nothing could be done. Cancelation policies are meant to protect accommodations from abuse, but this was truly not the case. We made all possible efforts to make it to Alta and the circumstances were not in our control, the cancellation policy.

Very cosy and clean little hotel with great view to sea. Friendly lady of the house was taken care of us and giving good restaurant tips. Couldn’t wait for more. Some stairs, so with any disabilities might be unreachable. Breakfast was also something else than in big Scandic-type hotels.

Nice, very well equipped and spacy room. With recliners, one with massage. Perfect view from our room at the fjord side of the building. Large, nice bathroom, and good sleeping quality. Breakfast over expectations. And perfect service from staff. Recommend!
