Not everyone will enjoy this Lodge. It's more 'bush than camp'. There is no power in the cabins at all. If you need your phone charged you must plug it in at the main lodge and leave it there. The cabins are completely open air - no real doors or screens on the windows to keep bugs out. It was really windy when we arrived and it literally blew right through our cabin all night. The walkways and stairs around and to your cabin are pretty rickety and do not have railings and it's dark with little lighting. I missed a step going to supper in the dark and skinned my knees at the bottom. The food was ok - and the staff was helpful and friendly. It was definitely over priced compared to other Camps we stayed at. It just wasn't for us, we were booked for 2 nights but left after 1. I hope my review isn't too harsh, some adventurous souls might really enjoy. We're in our 60's and prefer something a little less rough.

The camp has an interesting ethos and it was an experience to stay in a lodge which is very well ventilated as it is open to the world on all sides. The mosquito net worked well and needed to as it was the only hotel of the holiday where I heard a mosquito. It was eradicated with the provided mosquito spray. It was strange to have no aircon but we coped as it was so windy whilst we there. The food was good. Would recommend

Great to be supporting a community project and lots of happy helpful friendly staff around to help but…be warned this is basic accommodation. Two storey huts that have gaps in the walls and roof, and no doors. On arrival you are informed all nature is welcome in your room so be prepared to find frogs in the loo, sink shower etc and spiders and snakes etc. There is a mosquito net over the bed but ours had holes in and the stairs are steep and rickety up to the bed area. There is no air con and no fan,it is hot at night. All charging of phones etc and WiFi only available at the office area. There is no pool, the web photos are very outdated. There are plenty of great excursions and activities on offer and we thoroughly enjoyed a full day rock climbing abseiling and zip lining in the tsingys. You will need walking boots or very substantial trainers at the least to do this safely. The guys we had leading us were SUPERB!Food here wasn’t great, being vegetarians certainly challenged the kitchen, but the great activities and lovely staff helped push those disappointments to the background.

that would be my first time in Iharana bush camp, in a company with 2 ladies from Spain. Ending up our itinerary from the North in Ambilobe, we decided to adventure at an exotic accomodation. Iharana bush camp. A unique design, savagege, wild, and a luxuary bush camp as the name redeem it , the entire accomodation are mesmerising, it fit the entire design of wild topic and the variety of coulour are so unforgatable. On the back yard of the restaurant or the bar, you can have a lmandscape view on lake croweded by wilduck and a falcon which is trying to fish. Mother nature itself in a perfect harmony. Starting at 4h30 take a beer and have a sit, to see the entire Tsingy changing coulour into red, that is a nice sentence to end up the journey. This hotel are involved in the development of local community, as the entire workers are from the surroundoing villager also, they do have a recycling water system tto protect environement, and adapt on the topic of ecological hotel. Very friendly and welcomed. PS: do not forget mosquito repilent

We loved our stay at the Iharana Bush Camp. We immediately felt calm and relaxed when we arrived with the serene atmosphere. The bungalow rooms were beautiful and we enjoyed looking out onto the lake. We also found it fun to see how many geckos we could find around the rooms and restaurant! The sunset Tsingy walk and the cave and zip line trips were really great fun, which was one of the highlights of our trip!

This camp won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but we loved it. We had cabana 22 which is one on the front with a terrace and lake view. It appeared to be newer than those the other side of the main building. The cabana is made of traditional material, raised from the floor with gaps between the floor boards. The bed has a good mossie net all around which is required as the top of the walls are open. At the back is a bathroom with shower one side and loo the other separated from the main bedroom by curtains. Lots of lovely carved furniture in the room inc table and chairs. No key to the door, in fact not much of a door but there is a safe. The main buildings are rambling and open with comfy seats and tables for dinner. The food is good with 2 choices for each course lunch and dinner. Eggs plus fruit, bread, cake, pancakes for breakfast. There are optional activities you can enjoy but having done both East and West Ankarana we took a day off and just enjoyed the view. We did however enjoy a sunset walk with sundowners which was very enjoyable. A not particularly difficult walk up onto a platform on the limestone plateau opposite with a table with benches to sit and admire the view as the sun sets. Cocktails and nibbles provided. As a group of travel agents were staying the owner laid on a musical performance of local and modern Malagasy music which was a bonus. Pool nothing to write home about. Picnic lunch disappointing. Shower rarely more than tepid but would stay here again.
