Maharaja Ganga Mahal

I was here with a tour for one night. It was a nice hotel. The room had a balcony but there was a fair outside so it was noisy. The communal areas and restaurant were nice. Drinks a bit overpriced, [£7.50 with tax for a bottle of Kingfisher]. The food was ok though. Breakfast was ok.

The location here is unbeatable - within walking distance from Junagarh and the old city. The food here is very good, and the charm of the old heritage wing, including the restaurant and reception, is well maintained. There is also a new wing, with good rooms that have shaded balconies. In the two heritage rooms I stayed, the washrooms were in need of repair or updating - both had cracked tiles and stained grout. It's good to have the new wing of rooms, but I'd say a little more care towards the heritage rooms will also attract new business.

Awful. We regretted to come to this "4 stars hotel" from the moment we entered to the room. The white building where all guests are is smelly like a big old hospital, but the room is furnished with ugly cheap old furniture and no safety indicators, no explained welcome book, no services, no amenities. Surprised!!! Be smarter and run away. This hotel is cheating. Only decor to create a fake 4 stars illusion. Its only a backpacker expensive hotel but certainly not a luxury one.

Rooms somewhat bare for the size but very roomy. Bed comfortable but linen & towelling in need of some whiting or replacing. Lovely exterior & corridor adjoining lobby, pool area & gardens also nice but sadly used by more pigeons than guests. If this perturbs you then maybe think twice about your level of accomodation in India. Staff were very friendly. Our room & bathroom were clean but maintenece to powerpoints & detailing in bathrooms would make a huge difference. I guess if you have high expectations for a 4 star hotel in India then you will be dissappointed. Fine detailing is not their thing but smiles & friendliness is. Our breakfast & dinner were included in our organised travel so not sure of pricing but food was lovely especiall dinner. Would we recommend & stay here again...YES .

Our room smelled as if it was not used for a while. Also quite a lot of dust and the outdoor furniture was not cleaned (table and chairs). The swimming pool was occupied by doves and their droppings, so we did not use it. The breakfast was very nice and staff at breakfast was very friendly. In high season this probably is a nice hotel, but now it lacked some maintenance.

I cannot believe how people are amazed by the places where it’s only decor and showing up. Decor for outsiders is one thing but best you improve the quality of the service and the rooms. When we arrived no one welcomed us (only the guard at the entry. I am reminding, you at first, it’s supposed to be a 4 stars hotel). Check in is all about money (paid already online) and check out is inexistant. The main house has 12 rooms but not for the guests The guest (the one who desserve all attention for a 4 stars hotel) are in the white old and unequipped one. The room are not only basic but uncomfortable (bed too soft, like butter, and not good for sleeping… are you ready for a back pain ? So be prepared…). Smelly like hospital but white hair everywhere. Even the staff are bored. Bar’s employee is clearly pissed off of his job (better he find another job). Food here is not good and too expensive for what you get, and the service here is, apparently a strange and unknown word for this hotel. Heritage doesn’t mean old and cheap furniture from only few years ago but antique fourniture heritage from an old past. The room are so cheap equipped with no amenities (only small shampoo). No documents to help us. Who to call, prices of the food, the services for breakfast, lunch or dinner… Nothing… This is not a 4 stars hotel but a backpacker one. Cheating !!! The last night was a terrible one with no electricity, no one to explain us or say sorry for the disagreement (I remind you is a 4 stars hotel again). No water… no shower, no toilet… nothing !!! No service. I will never recommend this s…t for anyone and certainly not for business (or you going to loose all contracts and investors) .

The facade of the property and the corridor adjoining the lobby are the highlights. That's about it. The rooms and ensures are in desperate need for an update. The common spaces, corridors need an uplift. The check-in and check-out process was not great. The food was basic.

This is a heritage property. The front office, dining area, the veranda’s etc have a heritage feel and its fairly well maintained. The rooms are a bit bare. There is no heritage feel at all, the furniture is basic and so is the washroom, they don’t even have a shower curtain! The plug points etc. require maintenance. The staff is polite and friendly and the breakfast is good. The location is very good, walking distance from the Junagarh fort and the main market.
