Relax good place

I went to the Morap campsite in Kyukamura Shikotsuko. This is a campsite where you can camp on the shores of Lake Shikotsu (really waterside!). There are no excessive facilities like a trendy campsite, but water and toilets are properly arranged and easy to use. It's not a car camping site, so you can't drive in, but there are many carts that you can use, so it's easy to carry your luggage!

I stayed in a Japanese-Western style room. The rooms have been nicely refurbished and are neat and clean. There are also beaded cushions, so you can relax. The hot spring is a little small and there is no open-air bath, but the hot water is thick and makes your skin smooth. You can relax while enjoying the scenery outside. The meal was a buffet with Hokkaido ingredients for both breakfast and dinner. The seafood rice bowl that you make yourself was especially popular, and the staff added ingredients one after another. It was unlimited. You can walk to Lake Shikotsu in about 10 minutes, so it was a good place to take a walk and relax.

We used this hotel for the 50th anniversary tour of the Pacific Ferry. First of all, since there were only two of us on the tour, we were picked up from Tomakomai West Port in a private car. The 2,000 yen option that was proposed to include a day trip to Marukoma Onsen and a lunch pick-up was also good. We left our luggage at the hotel, so they carried it to our room. The staff were mostly young people who travel between vacation villages around Japan, and they were very pleasant to serve. Although the view from the room was not good while standing next to Lake Shikotsu, we could walk through the untouched forest around it, and there was an observation deck from which we could see the beautiful lake. It takes about 15 minutes to get down to the lakeside, so it's fun to take a half-day stroll. What impressed me was the dinner, which I didn't expect, but the menu was made of locally produced foods, and each dish was served hot. Everything was delicious, and I could feel the high level of skill of the cook. The additional order of kokanee salmon sashimi and salt-grilled fish was also excellent, and went well with the local sake. The next morning's breakfast also featured bread from the famous local vegetable soup curry shop Chitose. The hot spring itself does not have an open-air bath, so I don't recommend taking a day trip to bathe, but the water feels so good it makes your skin smooth. There was also a shuttle to Tomakomai, so I had a very pleasant stay.

I was able to get through the next schedule with the staff's response to JR suspension due to heavy snow. Also the transportation to the "Ice Museum" was perfect. This allowed me to enjoy both day and night. Customer service is top notch. Meals are kaiseki cuisine, and are brought to you as you progress. It was delicious, but it was a pity that alcohol was prohibited at this time.
