Sheila's Hostel has very convenient location and reasonable price. Room and bed also ok. Staff also nice and the hostel itself very fit for the backpacker and many public area for cooking, eating or rest but just a bit expensive for luggage storage.

Surprisingly comfortable hostel bunk beds. Staff were friendly and helpful, and plenty of communal space for relaxing. Good location for the train and bus stations and an easy walk to the city centre. Will stay there again next time I visit,

We weren’t sure about this hostel but given that it was reasonably priced for Cork we decided to chance it. We needn’t have worried. We had a private room with shared bathroom facilities. We had read a number of reviews about the bathrooms being dirty. This was definitely not the case. They were spotless every time we used them over our two day stay. I can’t speak for the dorm floors but those on the 3rd floor were fine. We found our beds comfortable and whilst the room was small there was still enough space to move around. The linen was clean and there was space to put things. We used the kitchen for breakfast and dinner. It was well appointed, clean and had plenty of tables to sit at. WiFi was good and there is parking out front. If you are on foot there is a pretty steep hill to come up from the main street. We are in our 70’s and made it! Be aware there is no lift at the hostel and all I can say is, thank goodness a staff member helped us get our cases up to the 3rd floor. I really don’t think we could have managed it. The hostel is within walking distance to cafes, restaurants and shops and you can pick up supplies at the supermarket or delicious goodies from the English Market. All in all a good stay.

This hostel is perfect for travellers who want a CLEAN place to spend a few days without breaking the bank. The facilities are brilliant for young people- cinema room, common room with board games, a piano and a guitar. The staff are warm, friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this place! I was there with a group of 27. We went put to eat but there is a huge, clean, well -equipped kitchen to cook if you prefer. Top marks!

After been down in Cork for one night looking for a cheap place to stay on a budget it popped up would not recommend this place to stay large amounts of noise from the group staying in the next room and from outside even with windows closed the noise from outside from the people outside still filtered up would not stay there again

No fitted sheets so you ended up sleeping on plastic mattress which I doubt is wiped down between guests. Very unsanitary and could easily spread diseases.! Bedrooms are long, narrow closets with a window at one end so no daylight or ventilation to speak of. Tiny bathroom and tiny shower in bedroom. Very steep hill to climb to get to hostel. Very uncomfortable and inconvenient! Worst hostel I have stayed in. Stay away.

We have just got back from Ireland, we went on a hen doo and after looking at reviews opted to stay in Sheila’s. All I can say is DONT BOOK HERE! Whilst the staff that work there were friendly, helpful and lovely, the rooms however were not! As soon as you walk in there is a horrific smell coming from the drains and no matter how much purfume or spray you use to try and mask the smell it comes back worse. The showers are so cold and on a 30 second timer so every 30 seconds you need to keep pressing it. We were a party of 8. 2 of our party had to stay on another room with 4 other people, on arriving we walked in and was mortified our beds had wet towels other peoples underwear and the room stunk. We went back to the other room where 6 were staying and the smell was horrific, 3 of our guest actually left that night and went and booked into a nearby hotel. The remaining 5 guests were bitten by bed bugs and spent most the day on Saturday itchy and scratching. Also, the beds were as hard as concrete. We have since emailed the manager after been told we would get a refund for 1 noght for 3 of the guest who just couldn’t stay on the hostel. And have been told that because we emailed at 1:30pm we were not able to get a refund. The guests that stayed there for 2 nights have binned all their belongings not to take bed bugs back into there homes. If you really don’t care about your things or bed bugs or are happy to stay in a room that is dirty and can hack horrific smells then this is the place for you! If not please avoid!!!!!!!! We are all lathered in bite cream and thankfully it’s soothing but was definitely not worth it!
