Visiting Cusco from Los Angeles and honestly, we were both really impressed with the hotel and the staff. I only stay at five star hotels and travel often so I am a frequent flyer. I have stayed at many places all over the world and have been disappointed in the past, but Monasterio exceeded all expectations and it was truly a magnificent stay. It was founded in 1632 and is still inuse today, but now as a luxury hotel. It has 121 rooms and is located in the perfect location in the historic center of Cusco. It’s two blocks from Plaza de Armas, and pretty much everything else you will want to do while in Cusco. Next door is the Palacio hotel, which is the second best in town, but if you are traveling with someone special, it’s your birthday, as it is for mine this trip, an anniversary, or any special occasion you will want to stay at Monasterio. As soon as we checked in they upgraded our room to a large suite and the room was extremely nice, very large, modern and recently updated. It pretty much had all the amenities that we were looking for, and the breakfast included buffet is truly delicious. It is filled with all sorts of local Peruvian food as well as some international options as well. We also ate at OQRE and had a wonderful dinner. It’s a very elegant restaurant and in the same location where the breakfast buffet is. I want to shout out Leonardo who works in the front and was extremely helpful and polite to us during our entire stay. He arranged the car to pick us up after our stay and was someone we looked forward to seeing and talking to each time we entered and exited the hotel. Honestly, the best hotel in Cusco and even though it is expensive, it is worth it. I definitely would stay here and only here next time I visit Cusco.

Sitting in the bar area waiting for our ride to the airport after 3 wonderful nights at this special hotel. We came here from 6 days in Sacred Valley and opted to eat at the bar the first night. The service was friendly, warm and wonderful. And the dinner was very good. I had been emailing with Roger with help for restaurant reservations before we arrived. Roger continued to be such a big help once here as was Julio - both at the concierge desk. They both gave us perfect suggestions as to how to spend our days. They greeted us each day with big smiles and always by name. The same can be said of Edison at reception. He went all out to make our stay enjoyable including sending special treats to our room on the last night. The hotel is beautiful with unique and very comfortable rooms that are constantly stocked with water bottles and chocolates. Buffet breakfast buffet was plentiful and beautiful with the opportunity to order off the menu, Santiago, the barista, makes wonderful coffee and is a real aficionado - so kind and informative as well. I can’t say enough regarding how comfortable and pleasant our stay was - and how the staff goes above and beyond to make you feel special. Would not choose to stay anywhere else in Cusco and will definitely stay at a Belmond hotel in the future. More

This hotel is just superb. From the moment we checked in with welcome drinks, to the moment we left, our experience was amazing. The hotel itself is a restored colonial 16th century monastery with a stately 300-year old cedar tree in the courtyard. The rooms are therefore similarly unique in that every room is configured differently. The hotel was run by the Peruvian government until Belmont took it over 15 years ago. It now has all the star quality associated with this high end brand. You can request one of the 40 rooms with oxygen to help with the altitude. We did, and slept so soundly waking up refreshed — highly recommended for an extra cost! While the property next door has a pool and spa, the Monasterio has a fantastic massage menu, and we enjoyed the 30-minute acclimatization treatment. The breakfast buffet offers a great spread and there is live music in the lounge every evening. The location, too, can’t be beat. Everywhere you look, the place is covered in art treasures. Have to call out the professional and friendly staff particularly Lucas the guest relations manager who went above and beyond.

This hotel was once a monastery. Beautiful grounds and common areas. Rooms were a bit small. The hotel does supply oxygen to the rooms due to the 11,000+ altitude above seas level. Breakfast was excellent as was the service. Excellent location to nearby sites and stores.

An exceptional property with exceptional service. A gorgeous renovated monastery that allows the traveler to experience a sanctuary in the midst of a city. Dinner at the property was fabulous Peruvian cuisine with the accompaniment of live opera singing

We have had a lovely stay at this hotel! We were greeted with warm tea upon arrival and were upgraded to the most luxurious room we have ever stayed in! The staff here are so warm and attentive. One of our favorite aspects of our stay was a complimentary coffee tasting with Santiago who is truly a master of his craft and gave us some good tips of things to do to round out our stay in Cusco! We have passed several of the other hotels we were considering and have no regrets about choosing this one. When we visited the Santo Domingo monestary we were happily surprised to note that a lot of the art displayed (that you cannot take pictures of) is casually hanging on the walls of this hotel. We will definitely be coming back!

Wow, just had the most incredible stay at this historic hotel! The service was outstanding, and the rooms were so cozy and well-equipped. The restaurant blew me away with its delicious food. And don't even get me started on the beautiful garden chapel and grounds—they're like something out of a dream. Yeah, it's a bit pricey, but trust me, the experience is totally worth it. Highly recommend checking it out!

Gorgeous, historic hotel with outstanding service. An absolute gem with beautiful, large, comfortable rooms equipped with everything needed for the most serene stay imaginable. The restaurant is excellent. The grounds, garden chapel and entire hotel is a work of art. It is expensive but highly recommended for a very unique experience.
