had a pleasant stay -this being our second in the last 5 years -a lot has changed including the icon who helmed and kept this property glittering notwithstanding its age....what hasn't changed -and first about that it the warmth and personal attentions specially the ever present and ever attentive Mr.Badal...let me now come to what seems to have changed -the experience in the Dining room -on the last day of the trip, having gone for breakfast and waited sufficently -I had to finally ask a attendant why it was taking so long to at least approach a guest(specially since there were only 4-5 groups occupying an otherwise empty Sunday breakfast area) -to my surprise -the attendant raised his voice to a level audible to others that "you need to wait -you can't just expect service the moment you come in", he walked away in a huff and in a local language easy to follow and clearly audible -expressed this to a fellow attendant -as a "punishment" for "ruffling" the attendant -my request(oats, eggs, tea) came after a long wait and 2-3 reminders -questions: a)is it not ***datory for guests to be attended within a reasonable time period of being seated?b)can the attendant who may be having a bad day show his frustration on a customer...Not "Elgin", not the "Oberoi DNA" that it carried. Mr.Badal while apologetic to this incident couldnt undo the bad taste it left behind..
