My husband and I booked a room at Big Splash for a trip with our 3 young grandkids. We booked the Pirates Hideaway water package. The kids enjoyed the waterpark, which is small and geared to younger children. They had fun. The hotel itself is older and very badly in need of a face-lift. The room appeared clean but was very plain and dated. The mattresses were old, and very uncomfortable. My husband and I woke up sore. The kids complained their bunks were not comfortable either. The package came with breakfast. The menu was basic cereals and the hot item was bisquits in gravy. Due to the lack luster experience we had at the hotel, we chose to take the kids to a restaurant down the street for a hot meal. If you are thinking about staying at this place for a fun time at a waterpark hotel, do yourself a favor and save some money. Stay at another hotel and purchase a waterpark day pass for everyone in your group. You will sleep much better and be money ahead. We spent $390 for 1 night and feel ripped off.

When we entered our room, the mattress cover had what looked like blood on it. We called the staff and were quickly moved to a new room, which we appreciated. When we entered the new room, the bedding on the bunks looked wrinkled like someone had laid on them. The sheets on the king bed looked worn out/thread bare; there were hairS on the pillows before any of us had laid on the bed. We discussed leaving but were tired and with a mixture of little kids and elders with dementia in our group it was too much stress to try to move at night. We went to the dollar store and bought our own pillows and had brought our own blankets. The drywall around the windows was warped from water damage, and as it rained the next morning water was leaking in. We had originally planned to eat in the hotel's restaurants, but feeling grossed out in our rooms we decided we didn't trust the hotels' management judgment when it came to food. This was our family's only getaway this summer, so we were very disappointed with not feeling comfortable and enjoying our room, especially for the price we paid. We did use the water park - which was clean and in good enough shape. We got snacks in the arcade, which did not taste good and others around at nearby tables were saying the pizza was good but everything else tasted bad. This place has potential, and it wouldn't take a whole lot of effort and attention to improve these issues. It did not meet our expectations for what we paid. For over $400/night...we should have rented a Best Western and just paid for water park entry fees.

We went with our grandchildren for a last bit of fun before school starts. We had a blast! Our room was spacious and clean. Things could use a little updating, but it was still great. The beds and pillows were very comfy. I was expecting them to be bad because of some reviews, but no- they were very comfy. The water park was wonderful too. The deepest was around 4ft. This is not a singles' hangout or party place. It is for families and children. The only thing that was lacking was the breakfast food and snack stand food. Anyway, I would definitely go back and definitely advise others to go. Loved it!

We took our grandson to Big Splash for a mini vacation. We drove about 2 1/2 hours, so the distance wasn’t bad. This was the first time our youngest grandchild had visited this water park. He was just a couple days away from his 9th birthday. With that said he loves swimming and water activities. We went down two of the largest slides multiple times. He loves the thrill of sliding through the tunnels. He also enjoyed the lazy river, playing water basketball, jumping the lily pads. We ate at the main restaurant for diner and the food was good, the staff was pleasant. We all enjoyed a great two days. The room was clean and comfortable. This was my husband and mine third visit. I highly recommend spending a couple days here.

Simply put, not a resort! Worth traveling to Great Wolf Lodge instead, definitely more worth the money and even though they say Lodge, closer to a resort than Big Splash. Big Splash still using the COVID scare as an excuse for poor quality and services yet running at full capacity. SMH!!!!! Picture of breakfast, not even sad, I am so mad at this entire experience. Hope this saves others from making the same mistake, unless you are like me and will always find out for myself. Let me tell you, the bad reviews for this place are spot on.

This place isn’t the best there was a power trip life guard who kicked me and my brother out of the hot tub when we weren’t doing anything the pool was dirty the life guard made us were a tube in the lazy river the googles snapped apart the breakfast didn’t have much I am never coming back.

First of all I looked at the vending machines and there was no good snacks in them. Second the TV had almost no channels and only went up to channel 25 and below that. Third we went into the hot tub and the sign said no kids allowed under 18 so we went in and the a couple had a compliment that other kids were goffything around in the hot tub so they told on them and the lifeguards came and kicked us out when we were not even doing anything just sitting their relaxing! Fourth the lazy river was not long at all and when we went into the lazy river the lifeguard blowed at whistle at us and said we needed a tub! The water was only 2 feet and 6 inches deep is that lifeguard dum. Fifth the lazy river is full of junk bandaids everywhere in the water! Sixth the breakfast is horrible when we went to go get our breakfast we grabbed a plate and a lady right next to us said you are not allowed to pick up a plate. I said in my head how dumb can this place get. So we got our breakfast and it was disgusting there is hardly anything to grab just apples, cereal, granola bars, milk, and worst of all there is a biscuit in the gravy in a cup when you open it! Seventh we bought googles at the gift shop and we took the googles to our room and we opened the package and we tried to loosen the googles they were to tight and they snapped when we tried to loosen them so we couldn’t use the googles in the water. The googles sat on the shelf too long and they were getting old and weak. I wanted by money back! Eighth the lifeguards blow there whistle at you twenty-four-seven. Finally, in the lazy river you have to have a tubby around you even though the water is only 2ft deep or else the lifeguards will give you a tub. You can’t even walk in the lazy river in the water. And, you can’t even walk in the river with a tub right next to you! Last but not least, watch out for Mr. Authority (Curly hair) he’s in control of the lifeguards and he has a power trick on his sleeve and thinks when he says something you are going to do it. Don’t listen it’s a power trick! I don’t advise you to go. And I will not ever go again to that place the end.

If being cat-fished was a place, this would have been the "Automotive Marketing Distribution Executive" that was actually a used car salesman. I must give kudos to the company that made made the website and the professional photographer they hired. They did a phenomenal job. The staff there was nice and understanding when I asked for a refund, so I want to apologize if I was rude at the time. The waterpark was crowded and chaotic. I saw only 3 uniformed lifeguards in the waterpark that was packed with easily +500 people. I don't want to seem like this review is poor solely because of the staff, because the park goers were 80% made up of groups that you would see at an Insane Clown Posse /Travis Scott concert. I could not count the amount of times I had little goblins that smelled like wet pot smoke hop in line in front of my children. A kid's slide was down for 10 minutes because some kid who was way too big for water wings would not remove himself from the slide, so my wife had to go look for a life guard to get involved. I have had better experiences at public pools. Extremely poorly behaved adults would curse and talk about degenerate things to the point I just got out of line to go somewhere else only to have the same thing happen. It was like being at a trailer-park bar. So once 4:00pm rolled around I waited for a bit to check in since everyone else was checking in at the same time. Very kind and attentive staff did their best to get the line moving. I was already in a sour mood, so I had the family wait in the car as I checked in so they wouldn't have to wait in line with me. I got checked in without a hitch and went to go check the room before bringing the family in. I got the Captains Cabin with the shots package for a single night for $351, so I was expecting to get a nice, clean, well lit, and large room. After the time that we had at the park, we just wanted something to redeem the place, especially spending that much for a single night. I was mistaken. The moment I opened the door, the smell of mildew was overpowering. I took 2 steps in to find a light switch and stepped on part of a wrapper to some junk-food. After hitting the light switch, one of the lamps by the bed comes on, the other was a dead ballast after trying to turn it on. Then I noticed a red/brown stain that looked like an oxidized blood stain on the bunk beds where my kids would be sleeping, Then I notice that the there were crumbs, of what I was hoping of a brownie, all over the floor. Then I noticed how small the room was. Absolutely unacceptable. At that point I was livid to the point that I asked for a refund. Never in my life have I been made mad to the point I was willing to confront someone to ask for my money back. The only reason I'm giving them a 2 out of 5 is because I feel sorry for the type people that staff have to deal with on a daily basis and that they were understanding why I wanted my money back. If you are experiencing a higher standard, I do n

Took the grandkids. We've been there probably twice before. However, now I'm not going back again. Parking is a disaster especially for handicapped. Check-in is problematic but is too easily fixed IF somebody gave a crap! Treat your guest with smooth and expedient processing. We waited in line at around noon, and it took around 25-30 minutes. Only two attendants servicing about 12 or so in line. Here's the rub... Although the room was ready (Yay!), we were instructed to all return at 4 pm to have wristbands activated. What a cluster. Wait in line a second time with everyone else they told!!!! We get to the room and two of our wristbands didn't work in the door. A houseworker told us to go the front desk. I said send up a manager, I was not waiting in line AGAIN. Ended up being a non-issue. I arrived at the room which was already opened slightly. The door has to be actually LOCKED for the wristband to work. The room was big and wonderful, to be honest. Two bunks and two queens, a microwave, small fridge and a coffee maker. Problem: Some parents allow their kids to run wild both in the room unsupervised and in the hallway. Uncomfortably noisy. I was in our room listening to these kids racing each other down the entire length of the hall, screaming. Thier parents were all sitting at the other end of the hallway eating pizza and drinking beer. Sweet, huh? I called the office, and they said nothing could be done until the water park closed at 9pm. I figured as much. The walls and the ceilings are paper thin. You'd better like chaos. Things quieted down later, and we got a good night's sleep. The 2-elevator situation is a total dumpster fire. There's maybe room four people in each one. Slow as the second coming..... The whole place needs updating for sure. The water park missing some much-needed places to SIT! The chorine is so pungent my eyes burnt with-in the first 15 min. Although there were signs to this effect. After we got there, not before. It looked as though all kids were having a blast, so good enough. The dinner buffet was a bit pricey, but I really enjoyed the food. Ribs, chicken fingers and cheesy mac were all fantastic. There was plenty more too. Breakfast was a different story, long line. No signs on where to go or what to do. Very cramped for such heavy people traffic. They should develop two equal serving lines which appeared to be very possible, with planning of course. Food very basic and under-par. White gravy was tasteless and thin, no substance like, uh sausage. Biscuits were burnt on the bottoms. Scrambled eggs were not appealing. They had a good variety of fruit and cereals for the kids. BTW-This place is NOT walkable unless you can do a very steep long walk up a hill.
