Pestana Promenade Ocean Resort Hotel

The staff is friendly, the room is a good size and everything was clean. The room has a mini fridge, slippers and robes. They also provide pool towels. There is a cleaning service everyday and they change all the towels, including the ones for the pool. The bed was not the best as it was quite hard and had a spring mattress. We enjoyed the indoor pool, the jacuzzi and sauna. We haven't tried the outdoor pool as we only spent time there in the evenings. The breakfast was good. I'd come back as it was a nice experience overall.

We had a weeks stay at this hotel on a B & B basis. We were well greeted at the reception on arrival by Lina with a welcome glass of Madeiran wine. The room was fine with a double bed, bathroom, sofa, and good space balcony with a great sea view. There are special packages for dinner dining which for 5 No. buffet sittings cost £100 each. There are three large open pools outside and an indoor heated pool. The entertainment was for two evenings and also a karaoke night. All the staff were very helpful, but maybe a smile and customer interaction would be an improvement.

Super hotel, amazing pool, gardens, location and great friendly staff always willing to go above and beyond to help. Fantastic ocean views and very convenient location. Bus stop & taxis right outside. Super clean and welcoming. Have stayed here many times and it's always fab.

Welcoming, spotless and comfortable. A wonderful escape. The staff are friendly and helpful to a fault and the rooms luxurious yet comfortable. The largest pool on the island is well-spaced and has lots of shade. We cannot wait to return soon.

Beautiful hotel, with wonderful swimming pools and incredible ocean views. But the best part of the hotel experience was the hotel staff which were super nice both for us and our kids. Even in the end of our stay, they have proven to be incredibly helpful by sending our forgotten articles both in the room and in the rental car.

Had a lovely relaxing break at this well appointed hotel with stunning views of the ocean. On the whole there are many positives about this hotel. The well appointed rooms with good sized balconies overlooking the pool and ocean. The outside pool area and grounds are beautiful and exceptionally well maintained. Staff are very helpful, friendly and attentive. Whilst the hotel is 40 mins walk into the centre of Funchal, the local bus is really cheap and the stop is outside the hotel. There are also plenty of shops / bars / restaurants within a 5 - 10 min walk from hotel and a lovely promenade walkway to stroll along. Whilst overall this hotel is very good, there are some areas for improvement. Sadly some of these have been pointed out on previous reviews. So I do hope they are addressed as I would love to come back and give an excellent rating! My suggested improvements are #1 The hot buffet breakfast items were rather cold as the hot plates just weren’t keeping them warm enough. #2 It would be nice to have different fruit juices. It was the same choice of 4 every day. #3 The hotel decor requires updating as did our room which had some very worn cheap black furniture. Also, the room and corridor colour schemes are very garish and not very relaxing to look at! Please update with neutral restful colours! #4 The indoor pool is very cold. #5 The sauna door still needs fixing. #6 A proper SPA would benefit with all the ambience and lovely scented smells like the Pestana Carlton.
