We were 4 to, this traditional Japanese hotel, in a single room with tatami and sleeping on the ground. Typical Japanese breakfast and dinner equals two days. We take advantage of,go to the onsen. It is inexcellent location6, excellent and good quality food treatment. Very good experience. We offer you free transport service to the train or bus station. There is a store at the first floor with typical products. You must leave the shoes at the,enter the hotel and go with shoes inside that give you them

A very good place and a good value but in need of updating and refurbishment. Liked · Great staff who could not do enough for you. The location is perfect. Food for dinner was delicious, but the service was very rushed and there were several miscommunications with the staff. breakfast was good but not great. Lots of amenities in the room. The lobby. The holiday decorations and the outside terrace were lovely. Super clean. The free coffee, tea, soft drinks, and raman in the lobby were a wonderful touch. Location is perfect and veiw from the room was wonderful. Disliked · Decor was very dated in the room and somewhat depressing. Toilet paper and towels were both terrible; they were cheap and awful. Such a shame for such a nice place to cut corners on a minor but important detail. Little or no storage in the room except for some hangers.

We stayed here for a 2 nights on a Distant Journey (DJ) tour of Japan. Arrived around 5pm by coach from Mt Fuji area. Check in was well organised but it was after 6pm before our luggage arrived in our room on 8th floor. We were meant to meet our TM and guide between 7 and 7.30 for advice on where to have dinner. Map in hand we turned right outside hotel and proceeded into town. Recommended restaurants were very difficult to find. Any we did find, including those not mentioned, were either fully reserved or full or, as time passed towards 8pm, were closing. We headed back to the hotel to find buffet option was £45 or set Japanese meal ¥8,300 (£53). Many of us went to a 711 across the road from hotel and bought ready meals, which they heated for us in microwave, beer or wine and we retreated to our rooms. The street lighting is poor so navigation from a map was difficult. Breakfast was like school dinners but passable. Bar closes at 7pm!!! If you are reading this and are on a JD tour get to town early to stand a chance of eating out. A group did find a restaurant very close by hotel before the bridge on opposite side of road to 711 but the name unrecognisable as in Japanese, photo attached.

I can't comment on value as this was part of a cycle tour with my bike club (BAC) and Cycling Japan, but my room was really lovely and quiet with a great view. I loved the comfy bed and ergonomic desk chair. The onsen was on the top floor and really lovely with inside and outside pools. The staff was super helpful (the manager helped me find and reserve a wonderful dinner choice - Bistro Kanzo) and breakfast was also really good with local items (not your too-often too many overcooked and deep-fried items). Also, a perfect location for exploring Takayama. This is my 4th trip to Japan and I have stayed in so many accommodations on cycling and hiking tours, so I do have some context. For me, Alpina checked all of the boxes: room, view, staff, breakfast, onsen, location.

The three-person Japanese-style room is really very small. The three mattresses are discharged inside and it is full, but it is really full of organs. The room is very quiet and the sound insulation effect is good. The outside sound is completely audible. Traveling with children and staying in Takayama for one day, the hotel is very close to Takayama Station and Nobus. When booking, it was three people. When staying, it was two people plus an extra bed. The room only had a toilet, and the public bath was not big, but there were few people. Old-fashioned Japanese style hotel without lift. There is a small courtyard, which is still very beautiful and has a good location. The mountains are not big, and you can go anywhere you live here.

６ We used it at work in the month. The front desk was very helpful with kindly explaining the recommended store for dinner (drinker). The joint bath had time constraints, but I used it early in the morning. The washroom is a small bath with only ３ places, but when I used it, I was alone, so I was able to enter it relaxingly. Breakfast was a lunch box for corona convenience. Unfortunately, Bento and miso soup were not delicious, but they left most of them. The accommodation fee is cheap, and there are many taverns and ramen shops around, and I think it is a convenient inn.

This was our first time at a ryokan and it’s going to set the bar really high. As another reviewer noted, Oyado Koto no Yume embodies the best of hospitality. Right upon arrival, our hosts were warm and helpful. Would also note that the lady whom I think is the owner speaks very good English if necessary. I’ve noticed that the staff will also speak basic Japanese slowly if it’s clear that you’re learning the language and are struggling to speak it but trying—I really appreciated that :) You’re asked to take your shoes off upon entry, which being Asian, I love. I think the host also wiped down the wheels of our suitcases. This little place just goes beyond and above with all the nice things they offer additionally (price inclusive) to ensure you have a lovely stay. There’s a yukata service, where they let you choose a yukata to wear inside or outside, as well as plush coats hanging in the lobby area that you can borrow if it’s cold outside. They have aromatherapy burners with a variety of scents that you can choose, just ask the front desk for an aroma pot. The room itself was pristine and immediately instilled in us a sense of calm. There are little snacks waiting on the table, a fridge that’s actually a fridge and not a minibar so can actually be used by the guest, a full set of cups and plates along with a kettle and coffee pod machine, and the host will explain that you get sleep yukatas and specific face towels as well. If you have the Japanese-style room, the staff will make up your futon while you’re out. They left a sweet note on ours and also a put a pitcher of ice water on the table. It was these little touches that made our stay really pleasant and memorable. Would also mention that if you’re there longer, or it’s raining, there’s a small manga library downstairs and it looks like you can also do origami, which will get proudly displayed in a glass cabinet. There’s also a bathhouse and you can reserve a private one for a small fee. Staying at Oyado Koto no Yume felt like being a welcome guest at home. After we checked out, we were given a set of Takayama postcards as a gift. Would highly recommend you stay here if visiting the charming town of Takayama, and experience the best of Japanese hospitality. I can’t wait to go back. ありがとうございました~

The hotel is only 1 block across the JR station with many restaurants around the area, less than 10 minutes leisure walk to the historic area. Room is very well maintained and spacious, with comfortable beddings, strong showers. The hotel is very responsive with my emails and questions, I feel that they are really trying their best to accomodate my request with occupant change that we really appreciate. I like the Tanabe hotel very much. The grandma is very cute. Japanese introduced us to some of the hotel facilities in English. He took us to choose a bathrobe and asked us where we came from. Then I said thank you in Chinese. Then I introduced the hotel wall. The calligraphy on it was written by her dad. Her dad is an artist. It is really great. The grandma in the hotel are all dressed in kimonos. They prepare dinner for us after a busy day and then introduce the menu. The dinner was super rich and we were stunned. It is banquet cuisine. It is richer than kaiseki cuisine. Every dish is exquisite and delicious. The seafood is fresh. There are two or three slices of Hida beef. Did not eat a very special flavor, but the meat is not old, okay, we have a total of four people occupy a room to enjoy this hearty banquet cuisine, beautiful.

We spent few days in the ancestral house in the heart of Hida Furukawa with ou two daughters. Staff was very helpful and people in the neighbourhood were very welcoming. Would love to come back and enjoy the area. Special tip. Try the Hida Beef sushi form a small restaurant near the house, best beef ever!

It ’s still a little distance to get off from the Nongfei Bus Center. It may take about 10 minutes to walk with the children. The homestay is a bit inconspicuous, but it is still very easy to follow the navigation. Enter the door and change shoes. The old lady welcomes us On the 2nd floor, the room is not large, but there is a large suitcase, and there is a kettle to provide hot water. There is no one in the hot spring. It may be because there are not many rooms. There are no convenience stores around. Convenience store, walking to various attractions.

There are a lot of ”supers” about this hotel: - Super nice design. There are a lot of hotels in Japan that are on the cheaper end of mid-range that fail in the design category, but not the Eph Takayama. - Super close to the train station. It was an easy walk with our carry-on, wheely suitcases. - Super close to old town and the various Takayama attractions. - Super breakfast and coffee/tea/cocoa station. The breakfast was more like lunch (panini, salad, and soup), but it was all freshly made and delicious. There was also a coffee/tea/cocoa machine that was available to guests from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. - Super convenient to have coin laundry available in the hallway. We took full advantage of this! If we ever go back to Takayma I won't bother looking for anywhere else to stay - the Eph it is!
