Abadia Hotel

This is a charming, well-located hotel with shaded patios, comfy seating and a welcoming courtyard, Our room was quiet and clean with lots of hot water and good pressure. We found the beds to be a bit uncomfortable, though the fluffy pillows were wonderful. Limited front desk staffing seemed a bit odd but it didn’t affect our stay. Rates are reasonable and the hotel is just minutes from a range of shops and restaurants and the magnificent cathedral.

An old-fashioned hotel, unfortunately I had a room on the 3rd floor facing the inner courtyard and I didn't have a very pleasant view, a fridge would be a very good idea, instead, very kind, friendly staff.

We booked a small room with street view for 2 nights. Room was adequate with free Wi-Fi and fridge. Kettle provided but no tea,coffee or milk. You had to buy them from reception. Courtyard rooms looked much nicer and if staying for a while I would recommend one of them. Reception not manned all the time so make sure you contact in advance to get code for key safe at front door. Staff very friendly and let us leave our rucksacks until late afternoon on final day. Location is quite central but down a small lane and at first sight it looks a bit rundown neighbourhood but close to cafes and bars. 10 minute walk from cathedral and slightly less to railway station.

The side street the hotel is situated is not that pleasant but once through the reception the hotel feels totally different. Rooms are around a lovely courtyard and have everything required for a short stay. Central location and an easy walk to all the cities attractions.

The hotel is arranged around a lovely, renovated backyard. Rooms are basic, but clean and in good shape. We arranged a late-night arrival beforehand, which was handled friendly and smoothly (using a key safe). The only peeve I have is a slight stale smell when entering the room. Rooms also tend to get warm without AC. It is fine with the AC on, but that is a bit loud for sleeping.

After my on-line booking, they sent me useful details on parkings and many other, very ok. But then they tell me that my room is on another building, 600 m apart, and so I have to deposit 50€ in cash (why cash?) for "damage deposit, reimbursed within 3 days of check out and subject to an inspection of the property". I answer them that this is a little weird and odd (it's a fact: I've been travelling all over the world for 40 years and never found something similar) but no problem. Then, another note says "The kitchen collection and all items used, cleaned and placed on furniture. Failure to follow these rules will result in the payment of a bill for 25 € cleaning" (little bit expensive, but no problem again, even if I'd stay there for 2 nights, spending 110 €, and 75 over 100 is a big percentage). I wrrite them as follows, literally: "Of course, we imagine that the “inspection of the property “ will be made together wit us in presence, at the moment of our check out and return of room keys, don’t we?" I find reasonable this request, the principle is: if you don't trust me, why should I fully trust you? No answer, only a website based e-mail informing me that they cancelled my reservation! I send an e-mail asking why, and the answer is this: "If you fon t like our policies. Don t tell us how." WHAT? Don't tell what? INCREDBLY obnoxious, not professional and rude reply :-( However I write again explaininh that I accepted their policies, I don't tell anyone how to do their job BUT I have the right to made the "inspection of the property" together with them. NO ANSWER. Well, now you reader aware: if they have this kind of rude attitude even in answering to a customer that have not yet paid their services, one can easily imagine what happens when being face to face with a pronìblem to be discussed.
