Hotel Indigo was recommended to us by a co-worker. She raved about how much she enjoy her stay, so we decided to visit for our Anniversary. We loved everything about this hotel from check in to check out, everything was amazing. The hotel staff always made us feel welcome, by greeting us (by name most of the time) whenever we were out and about in the hotel. Hannah checked us in. She was nice and provided us with information about the area. We had the breakfast included in our stay. The restaurant manager Koji-san was awesome. While not a picky eater, I do like my eggs cooked a certain way...lol.. On the first day of breakfast, my eggs were not cooked to my liking. When my plate was taken, Koji-san noticed that I did not eat my eggs. He immediately came to our table and inquired about the eggs. I told him that they were too soft for me. He apologized and asked if I had enough to eat and said that he would like to try again the next morning. I thought this was such a kind gesture. For the next 4 days, my eggs were cooked exactly how I like them. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant. It is a bit pricey, but the chef is very good. The salmon and asparagus were my favorites. Our anniversary was on the 22nd and we received a call from the front desk asking if they could bring us a gift for our anniversary. They brought us an assortment of sweet treats, which we enjoyed with a cup of tea. Very sweet. Our room was spacious, clean with the perfect temperature. The television was the largest that I have seen a Japanese hotel. Our room was on the riverside with a private outdoor onsen. While relaxing in the onsen, you can hear the calming sounds of the river. There is also a foot soak in the garden area. it was a bit to cold outside for me, so I didn't get to enjoy it on this stay. The hotel was cleaned thoroughly and safety precautions were taken. All of staff wore masks and for breakfast, we were provided with gloves to get continental items from the buffet. All tables were wiped down immediately after a party left and were socially distanced. The hotel is in close proximity to just about everything. During our 5 day stay, we visited The Open Air Museum, the Venetian Glass Garden, Gora Park, and The Red Gate of Peace. We will definitely be returning and look forward to our next stay in the Spring.

Great experience! From the receptionist in the parking lot to the front desk and lounge are first class As soon as I entered the wooden house, I smelled a faint woody fragrance, and my whole person suddenly relaxed a lot. You have to take off your shoes when you enter the hotel, and the front desk will take care of them, so you directly step on the tatami with your feet, soft and comfortable. The room is very large, there are three doors from the main door of the room to the position of the bed, so the room is very quiet. The bed is very large, moderately soft and hard. There is free water, beer and juice in the small refrigerator. The electric kettle has hot water that has already been heated, and there is also a pot of room temperature water to drink next to it The room is heated and air-conditioned at the same time In addition to shampoo and other products, there are also toners, makeup lotions, and lotions that can be used. There are also hair loops for long hair. The whole arrangement is very careful. The view of the room is first-rate, and soaking in a daze in the open-air hot spring is a first-class enjoyment. Dinner and breakfast are in the restaurant on the second floor. Arrange a time with the waiter to go to the first floor and they will show you where to eat. Dining is in a semi-private room with tatami mats, and no other guests will be seen. The waiter for both meals is the same person, needless to say, polite, with a bright smile, very hard to explain the dishes in simple English. It is suitable for people who like to be quiet, slow, and [not to see people]!

This hotel actually exceeded our expectations! When I booked, I had doubts as I thought it would be a little run down but it is actually a nice property in an amazing location. The décor is a little dated but it is kind of the style of the hotel. I booked through Rakuten Travel website and upon arrival our reservation was all in order. I would recommend including the breakfast option as there is little in the way of cafes open before 10am in the Gora area. Our twin room was a little bigger than the ones in major cities. It was clean and the linen changed daily. The room includes tea making facilities, a small fridge and there is sufficient space to lay luggage (on the floor). The hotel provides (male/female separated) onsen areas with an indoor and outdoor pool in each. It was great to use this at the end of the day of sightseeing, particularly when temperatures where cold. The breakfast buffet caters more to the local market but did provide bacon, scrambled eggs, toast with jam, croissants, tinned fruit and yoghurt, coffee as well as salads, soups, fish etc. I found it was sufficient to cater for Western needs. The location is perfect and so easy to access the local transport including the various train/ropeway/ferry around Lake Ashi and a direct bus to Gotemba Premium Outlets. The location is also good to walk to restaurants in the town for dinner. There are a wide variety of restaurants with varying degrees of costs (some very upmarket).

I stayed here for the first time using the Kanagawa Travel Discount. I usually look for delicious inns with Izu cuisine based on word of mouth. Hakone has always been close to Yokohama, but the impression is that the price setting is about 10,000 yen higher for two people than Izu no Yado. At Rakuraka, I chose a Japanese-Western style room, which was spacious and clean, and was very relaxing. During my stay, I was healed by the voice of the warblers chirping nearby. The popular hot springs are hot springs, and the outdoor baths are hot, but you can enjoy the hydrangea blooming in the garden (although it was a little early). When you enter the bathroom, you can smell sulfur, but the hot water does not smell even though it is cloudy. The indoor bath is a little lukewarm, but it gradually warms up from the core of the long bath, keeping you warm all the time. This is the best place to enjoy hot springs. However, it was disappointing for me who wants to enjoy cooking. The first small bowl of nuta was delicious, but the other dishes weren't bad, but they weren't impressive (personal opinion). If you don't look at the menu, you won't know the material. I understand that it's more expensive than weekdays because I'm staying on Saturday, but isn't the cost of ingredients too low? Although the main shabu-shabu meat is branded pork, the appearance of the pork belly is disappointing. I also want to devise the pottery grill. The taste of the thick sauce is good, but I have the impression that it is made to be eaten with sauce. The shabu-shabu soup stock is also made from bonito and kombu sea****, so it might be a good idea to enjoy it as a zosui (rice porridge) that takes advantage of the umami from the generous amount of pork belly. Breakfast was different from dinner. The rice with sansho chirimen and the five-grain porridge on the scallops have an elegant taste. Butterbur miso, bamboo shoots boiled in Tosa, dashimaki* and horse mackerel were warm, and it was a simple yet heartfelt breakfast. What bothers me during breakfast and dinner is the constant running of the dishwasher, which makes enough noise to drown out the background music. I guess it's a matter of working hours restrictions, etc., but it's questionable in terms of ”hospitality to customers.” There is a nice lobby, so if there is a free drip coffee service, I think that coffee lovers will have a good impression. During my stay, the coffee service was only a discount coupon. If you like it, please bring it. Mr. Raku Hana thought that if the dinner quality was improved, Ashi no Yu could become a valuable inn where you can stay cheaply despite being on par with the Matsuzakaya main store.

I used it on a girl's trip for 2 days and 1 night. The arrival was a little earlier than the check-in time, but we responded without any discomfort. Entrance and lobby are smaller than expected. There is a lounge next door for welcome drinks and sweets. We are satisfied with whiskey and sweets. This time I stayed in a deluxe room. It is spacious enough for 3 people. There is an open-air bath in the guest room, and the scenery is ◎. However, I feel that the building and equipment are quite old. At first, I had a little resistance because I had only stayed at a shiny resort hotel. However, the cleaning is well done and there is a sense of cleanliness. I wasn't bothered because it was just old. The best part of staying at the villa Imaza is the meal! The evening kaiseki cuisine was surprised by the length of the dishes. Not only the taste, but also delicious food. The story also bounced, and it took me an hour and 40 minutes to eat everything. The next morning, freshly cooked rice cooked in a clay pot was very delicious. The side dishes are simple, but the seasoning is also suitable for rice. You can taste many kinds little by little, and it is the ideal breakfast. I think that the first trip to Hakone was good at the villa Imabari. I was able to enjoy the trip from the bottom of my heart with all the hospitality. It is a wonderful space, food, and hospitality, so I hope to have a longer stay next time.

The word of mouth of the famous travel site was good, the point of the site was stored, and it was sold at the sale price, so I decided here without much investigation. In a word, it is an inn operated by foreigners. The administrator is Japanese, but I only saw foreigners, so I thought the operation was a foreigner. Cleaning rooms and baths, replenishment of room fixtures, etc.々, I felt that I didn't reach the level that Japanese people expected. The location is not the Kora station, which can be said to be a relay point, and 2 station is the nearest station from there, but about 5 − 10 minutes walk from the station. It is close enough to walk. However, in front of the inn, there are many steep slopes, and there are many stairs in the inn, and it is better to avoid those who are weak in foot and waist. The meal is not luxurious. Because it was a stay at a sale price, there is no dissatisfaction with the meal that matches the price. It was good to be able to choose the breakfast time at 8:30 or 8:30. In the morning and evening, it was a private room on the main building 2 floor. The digging type, the air conditioner is incorporated into the wall instead of the ceiling, and the height is the waist position, so the person sitting in the back is hit by the cold wind on the waist. Cold or pregnant women should bring scrolls so that they do not cool their waist. The bath used the main building both the night of the arrival and the morning of the departure day (because it was troublesome to leave the building and cross the road once I thought that the annex Sakura Tei would like to use it). I never met a person. After all, is there a lot of people using the annex? I was reading a bad comment about the bathtub, so I just took a shower and didn't catch the bathtub. Surely the hot water was not overflowing from the bathtub. There are towels 2 types, yukata, toothbrush, razor, and com in the room. It was written that it would cost if you wanted to add it. This is the first time I have stayed in this place, is this the present age? There are washbasins, dryers, hand wash, mini refrigerator, hot water drinks and cups in the room. I asked for replenishment because the coffee and tea pack were replenished and forgotten. The vending machine water is 230 yen, and canned beer 350ml is 350 yen.

Very nice and conveniently located place to visit around Hakone area (next to one of the train stations). Amazing staff: very helpful and really friendly; always giving tips and interesting talks! The value for money is undebatable! Nice onsen on the premises and japanese style comfortable rooms . Really good offer for dinner (pizzas are amazing); you can also use a small kitchen & a fridge for breakfast/lunch. I would recommend this place with no hesitation: it is the perfect guesthouse.

We got this very large suite that was in the CONDO complex. It is outside of the main building but there are walkways in the back that allow transverse with the key. That said, it was incredibly comfortable. The beds were plush and comfy. Spring bath was soothing. The suite was HUGE!! There was a large sitting area as well as a patio. The entire place never felt crowded even though people were always checking in. I did not see anyone the entire time while walking around except during mealtime and the dessert hour. We signed up for both dinner and breakfast because we weren’t too keen on looking for a restaurant. It was the best decision because the food was very fresh and varied (although focused on Japanese more). It was buffet style with an extra personalized item that you get to order. Dessert was generous and there was a small bar to mix one’s own drinks. Afterwards, there is a dessert-beer-coffee bar that was just wonderful. It was like a mixer. The onsen was nice. We ended up doing only the private onsen and it was available both times. We also had the bath in the suite. Everything felt super clean and immaculate. The hosts and reception personnel were nice and friendly throughout. Check-in and check-out was quick and seamless. It is about 5 minutes’ walk from the GORA train station. There are lots of bus in the main street downstairs.

Our stay here was unbelievable! From the moment we were greeted by a staff member in the parking lot, until we were walked out to our waiting taxi, everything was amazing! We walked here from the train station (a very short walk) but were not quite sure we were in the right place. Before we could even question that, a waiting staff member ran over to greet us. After we checked in we were given a tour of the ryokan and property. It is lovely! We had a bath in our room, which was nice. This ryokan gave us the authentic experience we were looking for with the tatami mat rooms, futons, yukatas and the meals. Time is taken preparing the meals and dinner and breakfast were probably the most beautiful meals we have eaten. They were also delicious! It was helpful that an English menu accompanied our dinner. All of the staff we interacted with were friendly, courteous and hospitable. In my opinion, this property undersells itself online and the descriptions do not adequately describe the whole experience. It was amazing!

The room was spacious and I was able to take a good rest in the open-air bath attached to the room. The wait staff for the evening meal was young, but I could feel how hard they worked and I was impressed. I tried Western food for breakfast and it was very satisfying and filling. However, it was disappointing that the drink corner on each floor only had one type of alcohol. Previously, they had beer, highball, sake, and chuhai, so I get the impression that the service has gone down. When I asked the person in charge, he explained that ``the types change depending on the season,'' but since I have my own likes and dislikes, I couldn't understand what he said, and I thought it was just a service outage. I was very disappointed as I was looking forward to drinking slowly in my room.

I stayed in the dormitory.. As far as dormitories go in my limited experience (being the first time) I think it was great. Clean, tidy, each bed had a privacy curtain, access to every thing service was great - I should have asked her name. She explained everything really well. And in English ..bless.. Price for the dormitories was reasonable. I wanted a place to just sleep to break up my Hakone trip. They sent me a list of Restaurant options and coffee shops prior to coming. It has a kitchenette and a shared space. The shared space could be cosied up a bit with a lounge chair or something. But it's clean, it has some books, cards dining table and chairs. Restaurant food is good and reasonably priced. Breakfast option. Coffee shop a couple of doors down. So close to the station. It's ridiculous. Close to the museum. You could go as a group. 6 bunks in my room.. save you booking 2 rooms. Great experience...
