Hotel Sol Azul

Small paradise in La Romana. We stopped in La Romana on our way to the south west of Dominican Republic. Hotel Sol Azul was really a nice stop. The hotel has a nice pool and sitting area. Food and drinks are really good and reasonable. We had a family room which was enough for us. Fridge in the room. It seemed that the room was renovated so it was new. It was also clean. The breakfast was really good and the staff is friendly. The owner organized a tour for us to Isla Catalina for a really good price. Everyone is really friendly and they take care. So inside the hotel is really secure. We also walked to the near beach Catalena with some restaurant and bars. The area around at first seemed a bit unclear to us wether its save but it was ok to walk around. At day also the pool area is open to locals so you really get a feeling of how the locals spend their free time and party.

We were excited to stay here but it felt very disappointing. At first, the entrance and parking were so hard to find. Then they didn’t know we were arriving. The very nice and polite young lady called the owner while we waited. We were offered a beverage (recommended by her) which we gratefully accepted. We knew there was a welcome drink provided and really, for the delay we should have been provided one. But surprisingly we were charged with the explanation that she was new, our room was ok. The bed was hard and the ac wasn’t working. After I told he owner, he came and checked and told us to let him know if not any better. I’m the end, we were switched rooms. There was a birthday party and the music was really loud. We wanted to partake in the pool but felt that that we would have intruded on the party. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. All in all, we felt that it missed its mark.

Did not meet the minimum requirements of a hotel. Never use it. And cancel my reservation right-away

It was nice and quiet the area was not that great be i feel safe around there the staff was ok

I dont like. Very small and public. Not normal hotel.

I usually dint write reviews But on this one us necesary So people will know ahead of time. Roaches in the room Old AC, with broken fan in front of bed. Ripped towels No recepcion No inglish speaking employees A mess This place shoupd only be used as an emergency And the worst They charged me 47 dollar For a room is not worth 10 a night Avoid this place
