Great St Helen Hotel

Near to the station, hotel room was ok for a short trip

Liked · Room very clean, tea and coffee making in room helpful (with biscuits), bathroom great except non-working light on magnifying mirror. Free water in fridge a nice touch. Disliked · Size of room on website misleading - smaller than small. Despite turning the heat down to 16 Celsius on the thermostat, room was over-hot; corridor was oppressively hot. Check in staff was miserable.

Location was excellent just a 3 minute walk from where the Burns Night Supper was being held in Threadneedle Street. The cabbie at Euston hadn’t heard of the hotel nor had several of his mates he phoned on the way. By the way it cost me £25 in a black cab from Euston station. Approx 30 mins. I was in room G1. Just off the reception on the ground floor. It was a very small double with the window directly onto the street. It was pretty noisy. The wardrobe didn’t have a full length drop as there was a fridge in there so I couldn’t hang my dress or my coat. The air con didn’t work. I asked the chap on reception who tried without success instead suggesting I used the fan in the room. I did for a bit but it was too noisy and you can’t get to the window to open it. I imagine it would be very hot in the summer. There is construction work just outside which started around 7am. The bathroom was clean and compact. I would say it suitable for a single occupancy only as one side of the bed was up against the window. Check in was straightforward note that you need to show photo ID. The main reason for the low score was the scuttling noises I could hear in the walls which I am pretty sure was vermin, I definitely wouldn’t recommend the room I was in. Perhaps the rooms on higher floors were better. Location wise for me was very good. It’s a no frills option but for the price you pay was pretty reasonable for London.

We had to change the hotel after the first night because we had a room in the basement. This was not written in any descriptions during the booking process. The bed was too small for a normal couple. The room was not clean. The receptionist was friendly and very understanding. We got a discount of 30£ for the night we stayed and canceled the two other nights. We don’t recommend this hotel even if it is very central.

These pictures say it all! Never have I stayed in such poor accommodation. I have sought compensation but was offered a very small refund. This room and hotel is not fit for anyone seeking comfortable, basic accommodation

The location is great, but the room was tiny annd very simple and warm. I did not manage to adjust the heating.

We stayed in the hotel for a couple of nights visiting London for a wedding, the staff were very helpful and the location was fantastic. Very close to Liverpool St station and Spitalfields market and a whole host of other options.

Compact room but - as someone else said - nothing was missing. Well laid out bathroom and very, very warm room in stark contrast to freezing outside temperatures. Due to this the fire alarm went off in the morning waking us up with a start! Room with tea & coffee and very nice muffins and complimentary water. Staff very friendly and helpful. Central location to the City, near Liverpool Station and Bank. Overall recommended for 1 or 2 nights stay, would visit again.
