Elktrace Bed and Breakfast

This was our Christmas gift to each other and our first trip to Colorado! Evelyn, our host was amazing, she made us and all the guest feel like family, I can not express the wonderful and welcoming hospitality, we are already looking forward to our next visit. The staff was horrendously rude to me and very discriminatory toward a disabled person. The road to their property was closed and when I called to ask for directions, the person who answered told me she had no "patience for the relay call" yelled at the operator and then hung up on me. I have a hearing disability so needed to call through the relay service. I tried for 2 hours calling again and again. And no one would answer the phone. I was only 10 minutes away from the hotel yet I could not find my way there. I had driven a very long way, more than 3 hours and due to the long weekend there were no other hotels available. I was forced to turn around and drive all the way back home.

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and it was amazing! Evelyn is such a lovely woman to work with. The breakfast was always excellent and we always felt so welcome. The only issue we had was finding the actual property, which was difficult since our gps would not take us the right way. Otherwise, it was a lovely place to stay and we would absolutely stay here again!

Wonderful hosts and staff. The property is a little eclectic but we came to enjoy everything.We especially liked socializing with other guests and staff on the huge deck that surrounds the lodge. And we enjoyed the four legged occupants as well. We will be back!

Very nice location! But we had nasty big spiders in cabin that were upsetting! One on the bed! Toilet wasn't cleaned and had an orange moldy look in bowl. Breakfast was good! If i came back i would need to stay in lodge as the spiders made us upset

Top stay in Pagosa for rustic relaxation. Friendly hosts. Super pet friendly. We will be back.

First time staying at a B&B and it was not a disappointment! The lodge was gorgeous! The surrounding area was peaceful, green and good for the soul. We had the downstairs totally to ourselves. The only down side was our bathroom was down the hall and not attached to our room. The breakfast was amazing! No continental breakfast here! You get the whole smorgasbord! Lol staff was amazing and Andy was the highlight of conversation! We were remote but only 7 miles from town. Was perfect! I would definitely recommend a stay! We plan on coming back!

Elktrace BnB sits on the most beautiful property I have had the good fortune to visit. The 120 degree wrap-around snow capped peaks (mid may), the distant lakeview, the 100s of acres of perfect short grass, the horses, dogs, birds and tall pines.... Paradise. And only a ten to fifteen minute drive from everything you need. The property features a typically large, upscale 'Mountain Style' lodge with many modern upgrades. Hanging flower pots everywhere was a nice touch. The breakfast area was large enough to spread out, especially with the deck right there. But the main dining table was very social with many great conversations. Breakfast was family style- serve yourself and extensive. The 8 to 10am time window is generous. Some of the rooms were in the lodge, some next door. I stayed in The Annex which is a pleasant five minute walk down the drive. This was again, a very large Mountain Style' 2 story 3 bedroom house that would be perfect for families. I had the downstairs King. To be truthful, the bed was pretty soft and the bathroom was pretty small. The ultra modern shower was tricky at first but very cool when I figured it out. There was a nice couple upstairs in 'The Master King Loft'. This worked fine, though NOTE: some might not like sharing the kitchen and Dining/Living area. EVERY one at Elk Trace was so great, I doubt you would have a problem. Just book a room in or next to the lodge if that is a concern. You won't go wrong at this 'Special Place in Paradise'.

An absolute beautiful location with an amazing view and a staff that makes you feel like family. The space was larger than expected and extremely clean. Don't get me started on the breakfast... it was full of options and taste great. I wish Evelyn coups cook for me every morning. The only unexpected negative was the dirt road ...take it slow and watch for pot holes. The sweet puppies were an added bonus and super sweet.
