Secluded studio apartment behind the owners’ house. Two chairs, a table and an umbrella on the entry deck, in the midst of a lush garden. Double glass doors provide plenty of light — and air when it’s warm. Sleek, modern, well-equipped kitchenette, comfortable bed and great shower. Waiting was a loaf of delicious multi-grain bread, grapes, cherry tomatoes, granola, selection of teas and coffee, etc. Owners Darren and Sharon couldn’t be nicer. Plus Darren is an architect, so the place was full of imaginative details we are going steal for our next remodel. (Bathroom sink is a hollowed-out rock. “Curtains” are sliding barn doors fitted to the 30° sloped window sills. Etc.) Plus, the beach and many restaurants and stores are within blocks. This would definitely be our first choice if we ever return.
