Mom Tri's Villa Royale

Kata Beach Phuket|0.46km from Siam Smile Wine and Restaurant
Three years ago, after a month on business in northern Thailand, my husband and I stayed at this resort for a week. Choosing here was more or less accidental. We wanted a quiet beach and we felt like paradise in our hearts. The scenery is so beautiful and the staff is great and near perfect. The room was very large, beautifully decorated and there was a quiet beach. We loved everything here, so we decided to come to Thailand for a month to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. And come back to Mom Tri's Royal Villas Resort on Memorial Day. But unfortunately we were disappointed this time. We asked for airport transfer but no one greeted us at the entrance of the hotel. Walking to the lobby, I saw several staff chatting there, I don't know what we are coming. The resort has expanded, maybe this has brought more business to the resort, but for us, it has lost its original charm. The room attendant was still great, we had a room as soon as we arrived, and the decoration was very nice. But the restaurant staff seemed to lack training and obviously couldn't do the job. Our room was quite good, but it was shown everywhere that it was old. There were a lot of people on the beach, of course, it was not the fault of the resort, but it still affected the overall atmosphere. The resort is very proud of its cellar and has been on the wine appreciation magazine, but as a wine lover, I am disappointed that there is no reasonable wine here. I understand that the government has imposed a harsh excise tax on imported wine, But I think at least some Thai wines (some are good) should be in, and that's shameful. This is the beach, it's hot. I wanted a low wine, but the pool bar closed after 7pm and the only reasonable price wine can't be bought. I went to the breakfast room once and an accident that morning made me unhappy. I was unhappy for a while despite the manager explaining to me and apologizing. If management did say a little more, I would be discouraged, but not. I decided to go to the spa for a foot massage. The spa itself is very beautiful and the decoration is very elegant, which is the grade that the resort should have. The one who gave me a massage was a pretty young man, but the technology was not good. I have been to Thailand many times and I know what the real massage is like. Usually the masseur has to use some questions such as strength is not enough, pain is not pain. But this person did not ask, and obviously he did not know where the acupoint is. I later pressed it again in the temple, very good, a little spent. Maybe I was a bit picky but I really liked it before and it wasn't cheap. I also went back to this type of resort and this was the first time I felt very disappointed.

I'll start with what this place lacks - ambience, a reason to stay in once or twice. You know those times when you've emerged from the shower after a hard day at the beach, and you'd like to have a pre-dinner drink with a little quiet, relaxing music? Or maybe you'd like a nightcap before retiring? Or perhaps you're just so exhausted you want to stay in altogether? Well, they have quite a nice terrace here adjoining the restaurant and, yes, they will bring you drinks from inside, but it's somehow not the same as having a ”real” bar, and if I owned this place I'd be building one out there on the terrace straightaway. It was just so lacking in atmosphere I went straight out each evening, and judging by the emptiness of the terrace, I wasn't alone in my thinking. Even on ”entertainment” nights, it was sp****ly populated. Shame really, because I had a couple of lunches in and they were quite good. The hotel is nicely situated in-between Kata and Kata Noi beaches. Both are walkable - 5 minutes and the latter a more arduous 15 minutes with a couple of steep hills but so worth the extra effort. It's one of the best in Phuket. The hotel does run a shuttle to both of these beaches, but if you can't walk due to mobility problems, you should probably look elsewhere anyway - the hotel is built into a very steep hillside and the floors of the main building follow the contour of the hill, so no lifts. From street level to the very top rooms is probably more than a hundred steps. I arrived by car, and my walk down from the top car park to reception was quite comical. I was forced into a trot with my suitcase pushing me. After you've abseiled to breakfast, the choices aren't the best. Coffee is very good, but everyday I was stuck with cereals, fruit and yogurt and the occasional pastry. I couldn't bring myself to eat hot-dog style sausages that sat in warm water, or formed ham also in warm water! My room was a decent size and the bed very big and comfortable. The bathroom though looked like it should have been re-furbished ten years ago. There were cracks in both the sink and toilet seat, and the shower cabin is probably ”difficult to clean” on the inside. One positive though was housekeeping. Bedroom floor was always spotless. Good, fluffy room and pool towels. Lots of smiles and friendliness from front-of-house staff. In summarising, I have to admit that this hotel is really quite good value for the little money I paid. Therein is their dilemma though. They were at full occupancy, and I would suggest they could maintain that if they raised prices a bit, and invested the extra revenue in bathroom refurbs, better breakfasts and above all, by building a proper bar. Wouldn't draw me back otherwise.

Katathani Phuket Beach Resort

Kata Beach
This is the first time in Phuket and the choice made for this hotel proved to be an excellent one. The location is very good, right in front of a beautiful and peaceful beach (Kata Noi). The hotel is a huge resort with lots of different sections and nice swimming pools located right in front of the beach, so you can enjoy both. They have many different restaurants, with excellent food and drinks to order at the pool, and also nice buffets for dinner every night, with live music or performances. The breakfast is also very good. Nearby are some shops for convenience. We loved our stay and experience.

The hotel is opposite the Katathani Resort and is just a short walk away. The airport arrived at the hotel for about 50 minutes. We arrived at 2 in the morning. The uncle at the front desk quickly gave us a check-in and did not pay the deposit. The hotel does not have a lift, you have to move your luggage upstairs, the room is relatively simple, it is clean, the bathroom is a bit rudimentary, the bath water is too small... Anyway, as a transitional night hotel will be about it, after all, the price of 200 or so Can't ask too much.

We stayed in the room for two days. The hotel's location is excellent, across the road from Kata Noi Beach, which even during the peak high season looks half empty. We booked a room with a balcony, but upon check-in we were told that the hotel had some problems and after returning us a compensation of 400 baht, we were placed in a room without a window 😅. We were practically not in the hotel, so we didn’t mind. The girl at the reception is very sociable and friendly. We did not wait for check-in during the day and stayed on the excursion until night, but she contacted us and we easily checked into the hotel at night. 👍🏼

Charming hotel with perfect location. Just 200 m to Kata Noi beach. The area is a bit quiet but good if that is what you seek. Recommend to families.
The Shore at Katathani - Adult Only

The Shore, which I visited for my honeymoon, was the place I was most looking forward to even before going to Phuket. First of all, the level of staff is very high and the buggy man is very kind. It felt really good to untie the ribbon before entering the room, and it was nice that there were no children as it was for adults only. However, since I was going for a honeymoon, I partially booked a romance room with a higher price, but the first room I was assigned had a worse view than I thought because it was covered by trees. The breakfast is also delicious. The food tasted so good that I visited the restaurant three times. The downside... I was very embarrassed by the older facilities than I thought. :( The towels also smelled a bit... The shower booth was also very old... It was a bit disappointing... I had more good memories, so I promised to come back before I had children! PS. Buggyman sun, bambi, sam Thank you for being friendly! I hope to see you again in the future
