A tranquil oasis! Rooms are very comfortable and the food and service are outstanding! A quieter and more authentic stay than the big resorts but still lots of activities on-site and other activities a short ride away. There's also 24 hour security so you always feel safe.

November is the wettest month in Roatan. I knew this when I booked. I had been on a cruise over a year ago and stopped in Roatan. I knew I wanted to return and spend more time there. I love traveling but as I've gotten older, I didn't want a big resort. Staying at Puerta Azul is simply amazing. We did go to West Bay but I was anxious to return. The food was just wonderful. The coconut shrimp was the best I've ever had. I loved the whole experience and will definitely be back. We are still here and today's weather is spectacular.

Beautiful quiet location. Villas were super clean and comfortable and the on-site restaurant is great. Wonderful snorkeling right from the dock. The only minor downside is that it does not have easy access to restaurants and other attractions unless you rent a car (we did not). Taxis and private drivers however are easy to find and reasonably priced.

We had an amazing two week stay at Puerta Azul and we definitely recommend it. The staff is both very friendly and attentive, and the property is gorgeous and well maintained. The included breakfasts were pleasant and nutritious, and they were able to accommodate our dietary restrictions. Snorkeling is easy from the dock, you just have to swim a bit out to reach the reef. We recommend taking a kayak to Spooky Channel to snorkel. This is actually the best snorkeling we've had on the island. The location is just outside of the very touristy zone, and much calmer. About 10 mins drive to West End and about 20 mins to West Bay. It's close to the middle of the island and this is convenient if you want to explore its east and west sides. Don't forget to bring earplugs for sleeping because the roosters and other animals on neighboring properties like to sing at night 😉 Thanks a lot to Talia, Augusta, and all of the staff for an unforgettable vacation!

After reading all the 5 star reviews, I was nervous staying here, as my expectations were ridiculously high. Well let me tell you, not one lie was told. Puerta Azul is an amazing space with beautiful bungalows on a even more beautiful beach. Admittedly, if you are looking for a more lively vacation, this location is not for you but perfect for a nice relaxing, book reading vacation. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast was simple and delicious. The staff are amazing, special kudos to Rose and Wilma. Augusta was extremely patient and answered all of our questions and was so kind to call around to different places to get us the right information. My friend and I also had the pleasure of meeting Talia, who was super sweet and also very helpful with questions. Overall, it was a great stay and I would definitely stay here again. Puerta Azul is about 3 miles (10 min taxi) to West Bay, which is where all the bars and restaurants are. This is perfect is you want a quiet sleep but still want close access to nightlife. Tips You cannot flush any paper down the toilet, just want to prepare you in advance for that adventure The beach is not swimmable by the shore because there is a lot of moss and sea**** but i have heard its a snorkeling paradise further out Bring bug spray!

So many things to love about Puerta Azul. The property is a jungle paradise that takes you to a remote beach. More impressive than the beach is the coral reef within swimming distance--the waters here are just teeming with life. As far as the property, you don't really feel like you're at a typical resort or hotel but more that you've rented a cabin/cottage with really awesome hosts. We stayed in the two bedroom casita. We loved the fact that each "room" is basically its own house so we sort of feel like we rented an airbnb with more staff and amenities. I loved the patio we had--it was nice to sit out and enjoy the jungle scenery in the morning. There are tons of beautiful tropical plants surrounding the casita. The kitchenette ended up being super helpful for us. The kitchen is fairly well stocked as far as utensils. There's a little market just across the street for basic staples and the big grocery store is a $2 ride one way. You'd totally be able to prepare all your meals at home if that was a priority to you. I found the food to be on the more expensive side in Roatan, but for the most part pretty tasty. We also ordered off the app Hugo-- white the two places we ordered from were rather disappointing -- the app is super convenient and an easy option to use if you don't feel like going out for dinner and want some variety beyond what the hotel has on offer. Talia the owner and Augusta the manager are both super available and helpful. We had an issue come up during our stay that needed a lot of assistance and coordination. They're were super on top of making accommodations for us and understanding. They also checked in on us a lot and made sure that we had everything we needed. I really couldn't ask for better hosts. Talia's partner ran into on the dock and gave me great snorkeling recommendations. The included breakfasts are great. Rose who cooks the meals does a good job. everything we have ordered for lunch and dinners have been very tasty. I highly recommend the shrimp pasta. The best part about this place in my mind is the reef. Puerta azul will rent you snorkel gear for $10 for your stay, which seems like a very fair price. There are also free standup paddleboards and kayaks to borrow. The reef out here is honestly some of the best snorkeling I've done, and it is all within swimming distance. You don't even have to swim very far to see tons of interest sea creatures - I saw lobster, shrimp, snails, barracuda, and all sorts of colorful tropical fish without having to cross the channel where the boats drive. On the other side of the channel are some larger reefs. My favorite part is there are reportedly 2 spotted eagle rays that live around this area. I actually saw a spotted eagle ray (with a remora friend) while I was out snorkeling. Things to be prepared for: lots of animals around. Neighbor roosters that will wake you up earlier than you think is reasonable. Cats and dogs that are very friendly but are going to adopted you a

This resort was our favourite accomodation during our stay on Roatan. Our cabin was tucked away between trees and I loved the little walking path to it. The place is very clean, and the room and kitchenette are well equipped. We loved the private beach and appreciated the dock that let us avoid the seagrass when jumping into the water :) There is a great snorkeling spot just a short swim from the dock which is perfect if you want to do lots of snorkeling without having to drive somewhere or paying for a tour. The resort is just minutes away from a big grocery store and the souvenier shops and restaurants at West End. Professional and caring staff. Highly recommend staying at this resort!

We had a wonderful time at Puerta Azul. The property is beautiful and the staff and is amazing. The food by Rose was delicious every time. The service by JudyAnn and the other waitstaff was fantastic. Talia, Monica, and all the staff were welcoming and genuinely interested in making your stay memorable and comfortable. They helped us plan outings and made sure we had transportation to and from airport. I would definitely go back again. We have already recommended it to friends and family.

This resort is small and charming. The ocean front casita was perfection. The air conditioning was cold and the bed was comfortable. The food was good. Rose (chef) makes a delicious seafood fritter! Augusta (manager) took great care of us. She answered any questions we had and was always available to offer up suggestions on what to do for the day. She was even able to get pizza delivered for us! Harris (botanist) answered all of my husband's questions regarding the plants and flowers and even took me out for a snorkel. I felt very safe and secure at Puerta Azul, big thank you to the watchmen. If you are looking for peace and tranquility look no further!
