We stayed at Suzhou Shuilumingsu hotel/B&B (苏州水庐名宿) on Xishan Island (西山岛) in the middle of Lake Tai (太湖) shortly after it first opened in 2021. The owners and the staff were very friendly, accommodating, courteous and helpful during our entire stay. It is not easy to find places that can be described as peaceful or quiet in China, however, this was definitely one of them.We enjoyed a whole day relaxing by the pool which overlooked several nearby islands and a huge expanse of the lake. The entire premises had a modern feel and was tastefully decorated. Our room was modern and relatively spacious. One room has 3 sides that are floor to ceiling glass giving a greater than 270° panoramic view of the lake and nearby islands. In addition to the peace and quiet, the general area Suzhou (苏州市) is home to many attractions that you would expect of a large Chinese city (and its surrounds), as well as some things that you might not. So there are plenty of options for entertainment and food. If you are looking for a place to get away from all of the hustle and bustle, then this is definitely a good option. Being on the southern side of Xishan Island (西山岛) it is a little remote, but still relatively easy to get to by car or bus being about 130km (2 hours) west of Shanghai (上海).

The villa we live in is located between Mingyue Bay and Shigong Mountain on Xishan Island, Taihu Lake. Taihu Lake is at the entrance of the densely populated area. The rooms are all very beautiful with large floor-to-ceiling windows and lake view. There are more entertainment facilities inside and a lot of space. It's a pity that we have fewer people this time. It would be more fun if we had more people. It's more suitable for company group building. It's the first choice for party halls. We'll bring it here next time for company group building.

The decoration style of the homestay is very good, suitable for large families or more friends to experience, our six families traveled, so we packed the whole building. Each room is clean and tidy. The proprietress prepared intimately, and the barbecue and tea making appliances in the stove are really available. His small yard friends like it very much. There is a small swimming pool and a rotating staircase to the terrace on the second floor. The second time I also prepared breakfast intimately, the cooked rice porridge was really delicious, and the rice was rich. There are also many scenic spots around the homestay, and it is suitable for walking by car.

The landlord was still very enthusiastic to prepare breakfast for us. The breakfast was also very rich. Like the promotional video pictures, this homestay is quite big, the decoration style is very distinctive, walking in the public area is a bit of a feeling of going down to the south of the Yangtze River. You can also see the pagoda of the attractions, don't have a feeling. The overall feeling is comfortable, the landlord of the homestay is very enthusiastic, and will consider bringing friends with you next time.

Because of the epidemic, I can only relax on the spot, so after discussing with my friends, I came to Sanshan Island to revisit. I went to the island many years ago, and I remembered it as a very backward village. This time I feel very different from that time. Obviously, they have all been developed in a unified way. With street lights, every family has built their own houses and started homestay business. The hotel is still very far away from the pier. It has to make a half circle around the island. Although I contacted WeChat in advance and informed the arrival time, because the master wanted to drive the speedboat and pick up and drop off the people who came by boat at the same time, I still waited for seven or eight minutes. The hotel is the best on the island. It is relatively small, and the swimming pool is even smaller than in the picture. 😂It is recommended to stagger the peak period. Generally, if four people go into the water to plop, it feels a bit crowded. We took the 1:30 boat. When we arrived, we were hungry and the restaurant was closed. We asked our aunt and uncle to help me with a table of dishes at the Lakeview B&B next to the door, 100 per person, with white fish, white shrimp, and ginseng. Cai Baiyu Soup... It was so happy to eat. The main leisure and entertainment in the hotel, except for the swimming pool is a coffee bar, which contains some very basic cocktails and coffee. The coffee bar is open until 10 o'clock in the evening. The restaurant is open until 8pm. My friends and I went out at around 7 o'clock and found that there was darkness everywhere. Perhaps the cause of the epidemic was that most of the homestays were empty. It was a bit like a ghost film. So I ate in the hotel restaurant and ordered a set meal of 200 per capita. There are white prawns, water spinach, roast goose with chestnut, shredded pork belly soup and green pepper. It may be the older aunt I invited to cook the dishes. The dishes that came up were too salty. I talked to the waiter and it was better later. The roasted chestnut goose can't be eaten completely, the chestnut is very sweet, and the taste of goose meat floats on the surface. Objectively speaking, 😂 is really unpalatable. Remind everyone to bring more snacks and drinks. I stayed in hotel room 207. The internal structure of the room is very problematic. The sink is on the edge of the bed, and the small refrigerator cannot be plugged in at all, because it is very noisy when the power is plugged in. The internet in the room has been poor. There is no entertainment, and what is disheartening is that the Xiaomi TV network is not good. Finally, I made do with the 4G mobile phone and watched the TV series. The soundproofing is not good, and you can hear the voices of children in the whole building. The breakfast is as simple as the last picture, and it is good if it is not salty. After eating, walked half a circle around the island, and then rented a battery car. I have to say that the battery car is really easy to use. After owning the battery car, it seems to be a king, and I have visited all the roads around the island. The simple islands can't even spend money. There are lots of ripe jujubes everywhere, as well as loofahs that can be picked at your fingertips. The island is full of old people, and young people may all go outside to live. Someone rented a bicycle to ride, and met a family who lived in a hotel, saying that cycling around the island was impossible, and it was really exhausting. It is better to rent a battery car. When we left, we rented a battery car together, rode back to the hotel, set a lock on the mobile phone, packed the luggage, opened the lock and rode to the dock to return the car.

I took my children to Suzhou by car and took a boat for about 20 minutes to arrive at the island~ There is a tour bus to pick us up at the homestay. The check-in service, the environment, and the food are beyond expectation. The environment is very clean, the room smells fresh, and the facilities are complete. Watching the sunset in the evening and the sunrise in the morning, there is a lawn and a swimming pool downstairs, and there are movies in the evening. Mothers and children are very happy. You can dine in the hotel, and the food is very delicate. Sitting on the balcony or taking a walk in the morning and evening is very pleasant. It is far away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
