Great Ryokan and food. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this place. From the outside it didn’t look like a hotel for tourists but we’re pleasantly surprised after we stepped inside. It’s a beautiful Ryokan and probably the best in the area. Only complaint is there’s nothing much else around. Most of the restaurants are closed for business and not many shops around as well.

Although it's a pity that you can't take a shower in the bathroom, it's also unique to be able to wear a different yukata to go to the bath every day ~ and the massage chair in the living room is super comfortable! The service staff are all very friendly and the meals are very rich. They are all made from local ingredients and are great!

The room is large and clean, and the service and meals are very good. There is no elevator, and someone will carry your luggage up when you check in. It's just that the room only has a toilet and no shower, which is a bit inconvenient. Hot spring ♨️very good

This place was absolutely amazing. Staff was exceptional.Hotel was very clean and accommodating. They give you so much food. Dinner comes with probably 20 different pieces of food that is traditional. I ate food that i still don’t know what it was but it was prepared and displayed beautifully. Onsen was small but clean and great after a day of skiing. Would definitely come back.

Omiya Ryokan is easily accessible by car. There is parking not too far from the Ryokan itself. Staff service was excellent; they were accommodating even though we didn’t speak a word of Japanese (thank god for Google Translate). The food was a delight. Room was spacious and very clean. The onsen was small, but was really well kept. 10/10.

We loved the whole experience at Omiya Ryokan in Zao Onsen. We had a spacious and generously proportioned corner room and a lovely view over the village. The Kaiseki dinners and breakfasts were incredible and so carefully served. Omiya’s staff were lovely, and I want especially to mention Ishiyama-san for her wonderful help in making forward bookings for us and organising our suitcase to be sent onwards. She was always so smiling and patient. The ryokan’s Onsen was beautiful and we enjoyed it every day, wearing our Omiya yukatas. The outside onsen foot-bath was a lovely touch, and, hoping for enough late-season snow we even managed two lovely ski days!
