The room was decent. No aircon in the 'standard rooms'. No hot water either. When I asked to repair the hot water boiler they worked for 4-5 hours on it, it later exploded and shot boiling water all over the bathroom. Luckily I was not using it at the time. When I went to tell reception (this was 10pm btw) they were very nonchalant and took them 20 minutes to figure out they could not fix it and to just provide me another room. This was only talking to the owner of the hotel.

The hotel is located in a prime area of the upper hill of Nairobi. Very classic rooms which are clean and well maintained. The coffee shop offers a variety of both local and Internatiinal dishes. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. Thanks to Wesley and Fred for your professional service. I thank the GM of the hotel for ensuring great standards are maintained at the hotel. This is the hotel of choice to visit and dine.

My second time to visit the hotel. Excellent customer care by the GM David. Wesley Food and Beverage manager is very helpful. The rooms are spacious and clean. Well maintained and heated swimming pool. The meals are very delicious and yummy. The hotel is located few kilometres from the city centre Front of the house staff are friendly and helpful. Security is very tight at the hotel. I felt secure I will come back again and again. Thank you Heron hotel team.

In a very quiet area, clean, equipped with hairdryer drinking bottle water provided every day, but no tea/ coffee facilities in room. The bathroom is ok but a little licks of water. Wonderful service staff members couldn’t do enough for you always with great smile. Will definitely go back again

Warning for credit card scam ⚠️ Many months after our stay at the Awassa Heron hotell we found out that the Hotel was still withdrawing money from our accounts. We have called the police on them and are now waitting for an investigation to take place. Its absolutely the worst experience of our stay in Ethiopia so far. Nerver again!

Stay here if you are OK with being scammed. It has been the worst experience of my life with several payments withdrawn from my account and credit card simultaneously. The latest withdrawal was just six months after our stay there. Awassa Heron Intl. hotel withdraws money from their customers several times, both bank accounts and Master or Visa Cards are at risk. I advise all their former customers to go through their accounts/Credit cards to check everything is alright! If not go to the police just like we did. Stay away! You have been warned!

The property claims its rooms to have lake view. They don't. Actually, the first night, they put me in a basement. 2nd night 2nd floor but still no lake view. I don't think anyone of their rooms have lake view. They shouldn't advertize wrongly like that. It is misleading. That being said, the staff tried to make up to the disappointment. They are very friendly and helpful.
